12oz brown bottle with no freshness date on the bottle.

Big tan frothing drops a whole lot of sticky lace on the glass. Very dark brown, opaque at that. Smells of toasty brown malt, a bit bready and some spice from the hop in the back. Slick and smooth medium body hold a full malt jacket which fires off layers of toasted bread and semi-burnt biscuity grain flavors. A little fruity and yeasty in the middle. Breakfast Blend coffee and chicory comes to mind. Hops help to balance but are modest for the most part other than a spicy note towards the end. Finishes semi-dry with a lot of lingering toasted/roasted grain.

This is a solid American Porter, certainly sessionable.

Was buying a coffee in princeton wi. when I saw this behind the counter with the rest of the brewers line. mixed and match a few sixers.

poured well, little head but laced fairly well. Aroma was nice, like burnt coffee or dark chocolate. tasted of the same, with a caramel or toffee on the back. Not too bitter, enjoyed it the all the way through. A good porter, and a great surprise to find in a coffee/antique shop.

Enjoyed on my summer joy ride through the state of Wisconsin, thanks to the "Mayor of Hammertown (in Wisc.)" for the hospitality and fine Central water beers. This one was sampled on tap and bottles, this is a review of the bottled version. 12 ouncer, poured dark dark, brown/amber, with a initially puffy dark tan head, leaves plenty of sheeting, then fine lacing. Nose is pure chocolate, yum. Lots of chocolate, some vanilla, cocoa, dark toasty/crusty malts. Nice, malty, flavorful, chocolate milk shake style porter. Smooth and filling, with a late hop bite and dry out. Nice.

Pours clear, reddish-brown with 1/4 inch head. Taste is both dark and milk chocolate as well as roasted malt. There is a light creaminess to this. Overall this is a solid porter. I will get this one again if I wanted the style.

Thanks to exiled for sharing this beer.

The beer pours medium-dark brown with a small white head. The aroma is caramel and chocolate malts. Very sweet smelling. The flavor is coffee, chocolate and caramel malt with a coffee aftertaste. Light to medium mouthfeel and low to medium carbonation.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Nonic Imperial Pint.

Appearance: Dark reddish-brown with nice light brown head and decent lacing rings.

Smell: Bittersweet chocolate, dry roast, molasses and licorice.

Taste: Fairly dry roasted and caramel malts, with lots of bittersweet chocolate and molasses. Some light herbal hop notes, but remains pretty focused on the malts and the roastiness throughout.

Feel: Moderate carbonation, smooth medium body, somewhat dry finish.

Overall: Quite simply a very good everyday Porter. Flavorful but remains light and easy drinking.

Appearance: Pours bright opaque dark brown under a 1” light tan cap that rises slightly over the rim of the glasss. Smell: Roast and dark sugar aromas. Taste: Starts with balance of dark sugars and mild roast drying on the finish with a slight roast bitterness. Mouthfeel: Mediumn full body, medium low carbonation. Overall: Rich in flavor and very easy to drink.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a dark blackish brown with a hint of ruby. Moderate amount of bubbles and about one finger of tan head which settles into a thin creamy patch.

Smell: A roasty and fairly sweet malt forward aroma with hints of chocolate and coffee. Dark roasted barley malt with hints of chocolate, coffee beans, toast, biscuit, caramel, cream, milk, and yeast. Hints of brown sugar. Subtle fruit hints of cherry, apple, and fig. Also some hints of earthy hops. A pretty solid roasty aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a roasty and sweet dark malt driven taste with good notes of chocolate and coffee. Upfront dark roasted barley malt with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, toasted bread, and biscuit along with some caramel, milk, cream, and yeast. Sweet notes of brown sugar. Some earthy and grassy hop notes in the background. Also some light fruit undertones of apple, fig, and cherry. A very solid Porter taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Very creamy, silky, and smooth.

Overall: A very good take on an American Porter. Good roasty malt flavors with a smooth creamy body.
