2013 vintage, 12 oz. bottle into a tulip glass. Huge thanks to ObiWanKushnobi for the four-pack!
A - Pours a dark brown body that lets some light through. Two fingers of light and creamy tan foam, thick lacing with decent retention.
S - All about the coffee here. I started off with a comparison to a French Vanilla hot "coffee drink" that you can order from a vending machine, but the more I smell this the more I get just a super rich and roasty coffee bean. Plenty of oak and vanilla from the barrel. Toffee is throwing me off here, its like a Heath bar. The more this beer warms and opens up the better it gets.
T - Smooth and rich coffee, french vanilla, toffee, roasted malts, and some milk chocolate. The bourbon has little interaction short of a vanilla kick and some alcohol heat on the finish. Its tasty and drinkable, but the coffee seems to be a bit too rich and oily. Mouth feel is medium bodied and very creamy. ABV isn't terribly high, but you can feel it for sure.
O - A very unique coffee profile. Its not the best BA coffee stout, but it is enjoyable in its own right. Been wanting to try this for some time now, thank you Kyle!

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a snifter. This is a 2014 vintage.
Appearance: Pours very dark brown/nearly black and leaves a finger of dark tan/light brown head, which fades to a layer around the glass.
Smell: Big, roasty coffee beans up front, roasted malts, light fudge. Nice balanced aroma with some big flavors.
Taste: A bit of vinous, slightly sour flavor upfront, along with coffee beans, some dark chocolate, oak, malts. The sour doesn't help the flavor, but rather nearly dominates it.
Mouth-feel: Medium carbonation with a medium, creamy body. Finishes smooth, a bit sour.
Overall: Definitely a nice, coffee stout, but the sour in the taste is a bit offputting. It doesn't completely dominate the taste but does give it a twist. Still, a nice stout.
