12oz bottle poured into my Central Waters pint glass...
Pours semi-thick, dark brown, crimson around the edges. One finger of light beige head forms and recedes quickly leaving a cap of haze...
Wonderful aroma full of coffee, chocolate, vanilla and wood. Starts off quickly bitter, roasted malts and bitter coffee, smell quickly turns to the sweet side, loads a vanilla and semi-sweet chocolate finish out...
Coffee upfront with some mild hop bitterness initially dominates. After a few sips and a swish, the beer takes on a sweet side. Vanilla and chocolate jump out with a bit of smoky/wood character before the bitterness sets back in and lingers into the finish...
Thick bodied with a nice creamy feel. Alcohol shows up after a few sips and the bitterness from the coffee lingers well past the finish...
I pretty much love everything from Central Waters, this one was no different. Great beer, enough said.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a snifter. This is a 2014 vintage.
Appearance: Pours very dark brown/nearly black and leaves a finger of dark tan/light brown head, which fades to a layer around the glass.
Smell: Big, roasty coffee beans up front, roasted malts, light fudge. Nice balanced aroma with some big flavors.
Taste: A bit of vinous, slightly sour flavor upfront, along with coffee beans, some dark chocolate, oak, malts. The sour doesn't help the flavor, but rather nearly dominates it.
Mouth-feel: Medium carbonation with a medium, creamy body. Finishes smooth, a bit sour.
Overall: Definitely a nice, coffee stout, but the sour in the taste is a bit offputting. It doesn't completely dominate the taste but does give it a twist. Still, a nice stout.
