Special thanks to my lone beer buddy ncketchum. This was a nice selection, and I appreciated the bottle. Poured this out into a CBS snifter.
A) Foggy brown, perhaps a finger of head, which settles quickly to a collar. There was some alcohol traction.
S) Nice aroma... Sweet layers of roasted malt, brown sugar, a bit of vanilla, and bourbon.
T) Sweet malt, vanilla/caramel, simmering brown sugar, hint of hop bitterness. This has a woody bourbon finish with some alcohol heat to the aftertaste.
M) Medium bodied and lightly carbonated, rather smooth, with an expected alcohol tingle.
O) I don't drink a lot of barleywines, and this was my first barrel aged for sure. Having said that, I found this quite impressive, and would certainly seek it out again.
