12 oz. bottle into pint.

A: Cloudy amber color. Some sediment floating about. Even with a fairly easy pour, there's a thick off white head. Great retention and good lacing.

S: Smells really rustic and dank. Smells like pine needles you find on the forest floor: piney with a really earthy overtone.

T: Tastes like what you'd smell if you were in the middle of a forest and took a deep breath. Mostly dirt, leaves, pine, spices, and caramel. Nothing really "IPA" about it. Brewery claims it's an IPA, but I think it'd be better classified as some sort of brown ale.

M: Smooth, medium-thick, not a lot of carbonation. Pretty good.

O: A really different IPA. Considering that this brewery is in the middle of nowhere, it kind of fits. Again, the hops are really piney, yet subdued. There is a myriad of different off-flavors and tastes. As I said, it's probably misclassified as an IPA.

It's definitely interesting and tasty, but don't go into it expecting a "normal" IPA. Sorry, but have to grade it accordingly. It's a good, interesting beer, but it falls short as an IPA.

appearance: cloudy honey. looks pretty.

smell: fresh and subtle hop aroma. i'd like more.

taste: hop bitterness and not too much else....i prefer my ipa's to have more citrus going on. personal preference.

mouthfeel: carbonated bite. not bad but a bit thin.

Drinkability: High.

Overall: not really my thing...i'm probably reviewing this at the wrong time as i've been drinking tons of great DIPA's and IPA's...this one just doesn't stand up as well as I'd hoped.

A: dark yellow/orange body, 2 finger fluffy head, fine lacing

S: light pine and citrus scent

T: malt, trace of grassy/pine, mild slow bitter finish

M: med/light, hint of oily mouth

O: Saddened by this offering. I have really enjoyed almost
every Central Waters beer. This seems like it should be a
Pale Ale.

Purchased at Pinocchion's in Media, PA. Bottled in October 2010, so it's fairly old. 12oz bottle served in DFH pint glass.

A: Somewhat hazy amber color. One finger white head. Good carbonation. There is some floating sediment in the glass with the bubbles.

S: I got some piney hops with a little citrus but not tons. I did get some malts though.

T: This tastes old....because it is for an IPA. There are some hops, but it's too malty. The balance is off. The bite is there but it's not great.

M: It's mild and easy drinking. Watery in IPA standards.

O: One and done. If fresh it might be a different story. There are lots of better IPAs out there though.

Pours a hazy and light amber/brown with two fingers of off-white head that recede slowly and leave a nice lacing on the glass.

Aroma is lots of caramel and toasted malts with only a hint of hops. Fairly disappointing, the hops are just a wisp of grass and the malt completely dominates.

Taste is very malt forward as well, toasted, biscuit and caramel malts come through. The malt flavors are good, fairly complex, but this beer does not have the hop flavor or bitterness of an IPA. Bitterness does come through toward the finish and after the beer exits but it is reserved and the malt presence is still quite strong.

Mouthfeel is medium/thick with moderate carbonation.

Overall this is a good beer with good malt flavors. It let me down as I was expecting an IPA, however it has some nice malt flavors and is fairly full bodied. Unfortunately it gets low points based on rating by style. I would have called this beer an ESB.
