Bottle from "The Rookery" sample pack, bottled in May
Color looks rather pale for an amber. It's not an incredibly appealing start. The first pour didn't really yield much head, and a second, harder one did not do much better.
Smells a lot better. Hits the notes to style while being potent enough. Biscuit notes of course. Medium sweetness, low hop presence in the nose.
Malt-forward amber ale with some grassy hops at the end. Biscuit notes recall a certain ubiquitous amber ale. Pleasant dryness keeps this drinkable, but the hop profile almost seems more apt for a mild pilsner. By about halfway through my second bottle, musty grain is more apparent, and other flavors start to get muted.
Feel is average. Body and carbonation both seem medium-light. I'd be a little surprised if this beer broke 5% abv.
Will appeal to fans of Fat Tire. Solid local alternative. Pretty quaffable summer drink with enough flavor (barely) to keep my interest. Tempted to drop this another notch, but it seems to meet its goal just well enough. Better file this in before I drink any more. Seems to be the rare beer that is best in the first serving, and less so when you have more time to pick at it.

Pours slightly hazed copperish amber with a thin lasting head. Little lacing sticks.
The smell is of caramel with a musty undertone.
The taste is of caramel with vague dried citric sour fruity aftertaste. Sweetish with a metallic dryness in the finish.
It is somewhat fizzy. Rather abrupt, slightly watery finish.
Because of the odd finish and things just not coming together greatly, I wouldn't "session" this.
