A: Pours a murky brown color. Not as thick as I would have though. Some light gets through. Not a lot of head. Basically only a collar of off white/almost tan head. Seems like there is carbonation though.
S: Getting a lot of that bourbon right away. Vanilla and toffee. Sweet maltiness. Smells tasty.
T: Sweet toffee and vanilla goodness. You get those nice flavors from the front if the tongue to the mid-palate. What I love, it's not a huge barleywine or stout and packs this much flavor. Nice lighter body. Finish is long with lingering toffee/vanilla notes.
M: It's a big medium to full bodied beer. Style helps with thinner mouth.

A strong bourbon-barrel influence with a malty-sweet backbone ensures a masculine but whimsical taste that come together in the most enticing but unusual way. its delivery isn't exactly what's promised. It might just be better.
As its lavish sweetness layers upon the palate, waves of caramel, toffee, maple and vanilla meet that of sorghum, honey and faint chocolate- all ahead of a playful oak, fruit and spice undertow.
And as the highly complex taste rolls over the middle, it sheds its finesse banana, clove and vinous character and fixates on bourbon sweetness, wood caramels, vanillans, oak tannin and coffee. With any hop balance in far recession, the beer relies heavily on its sheer complexity and power for balance.
its lightly viscous finish makes this potent ale a sipping elixir rather than a "drinkable" ale. Meant to contend with port, sherry and madera, the taste and potency of a Petite Mort ensures a long, spicy, and savory finish that clings to the taste buds in strong dessert-like fashion.
