poured 12oz bottle into pint glass
A - Pours a light sun color with a slight hue of peach. Nice 2 finger white bubbly head and lacing galore.
S - Light citrus and floral hops, with a bit of malt a sweetness to it. Better than the offerings from Lagunitas and Founders.
T - Some floral, citrus hop juice, but this at least carries some malt and sweetness to it. Founders and Lagunitas lack the malt.
M - Light-medium bodied with moderate-high carbonation. Easy drinking and refreshing.
O - As an IPA it is weak since there light malt and sweetness to go along with the citrus hops. As a session ale it is pretty good as a light, refreshing drink on a hot day. A bit better than Lagunitas Daytime or Founders All Day

Pours hazy, orange-gold in color with 1/3 inch head. Taste is citrus hops, orange, tangerine, slight grapefruit as well as some earthiness. Light bodied, tasty, and one I could have several of. I like other IPAs more, but this is certainly worth a shot.

Pour: On draft at The Jeffery in NYC. Poured into a nonic pint. Appearance: Dark amber and clear. Medium white head with excellent lacing on the sides of the glass. Aroma: Subtle hops and elements of pine. Taste: Real subtle on the hop flavors on the first sip. Very earthy and somewhat bitter. Kind of strange for a lower IBU (35). Aftertaste: The earthy, tangy and bitter notes last throughout. Really great mouthfeel. Overall: Easy drinking and crushable. Good. 3.22 out of 5.

As always, a Session IPA has no malt back and resembles hoppy water. This is a watery combination of bitter, floral hops and a resiny bitterness. There's a bit of barley malt but it's overwhelmed by a wateriness. It's not Central Waters fault, it's a hard style to succeed with.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 5/13/2014. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice rings of soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, light caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, light caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, lemon/orange rind, pine, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice robustness, complexity, and balance of citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance with minimal hop astringency after the finish. Good amount of dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, sticky/resinous, and slightly creamy/bready mouthful that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is a very good session IPA. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. Even with the labeled age of this bottle, the hop flavors still had good vibrancy, and it was still very enjoyable.

"Horicon Nitro. On nitro @ Howells & Hood. Brief notes below:
A: Gorgeous head, with ample creaminess and froth. Soft in appearance, with great even consistency and good complexion. White colour. Heavy coating lacing. Retention is stellar - about 8-10 minutes, wow.
Body is a clear copper of good vibrance. Clean and yeast free, with obvious filtration.
Appears well-carbonated. It's a nice looking IPA.
AROMA: Clean grain, pale malts, floral notes, fragrant citrus, nitro-induced cream.
No yeast, off-notes, or booze.
TASTE & TEXTURE: The nitro cream does mute the flavour profile somewhat, with repressed hop notes of flowers, herb, and vague citrus along with a blip of chamomile tea. Pale malts and clean barley tame any hop bitterness.
Ultimately, it comes off shallow and simple, with subpar depth of flavour. I do like it generally speaking, but it leaves much to be desired in terms of intricacy. Not a gestalt build, but cohesive and decently balanced.
Texture is creamy, smooth, wet, and surprisingly light-bodied. I think nitro doesn't serve the flavour profile well at all. Well-carbonated and somewhat refreshing. This texture doesn't accentuate specific notes or elevate the beer as a whole.
OVERALL: Drinkable but forgettable. I hoped for better given the brewery behind it, but the nitro-draught dispense is holding the beer back - so maybe I ought to try it on-draught. Not worth trying - especially not @ $7 a glass. But of fair quality.
