On tap at Frontier Field during a Red Wings game. I'm gonna attempt to not let the wonderful conditions the beer was drank in affect my review of this one.
This one pours a rusted looking red color, with a wispy off-white head, and lots of lacing.
It smells like mildly bitter piney and leafy hops, toasted brown bread, and just a hint of caramel.
This is a very simple but underrated and tasty red ale. Having it at the game might ensure it's actually fresh, rather than from the undated and probably growlers you see at Wegmans. It's got a nicely toasty and slightly caramelly sweet malt backbone. It's not too heavy of a sweetness, which is good for a hot day at the game. There's a slight but firm hop bitterness on the finish, piney and leafy. It's not the most complex beer in the world, but it accomplishes exactly what it sets out to do.
This is pretty light bodied, with a very crisp mouthfeel.
This is definitely one of Rohrbach's best beers, reviews be damned.
