I happened across this place by chance the other day. Rumor had it that the "Cellars" chain of liquor stores in the Twin Cities was good, so I had to stop in. What a great idea it was. I stopped in to find some Bitter Brewer, they had it and a whole lot more. I've been to quite a few liquor stores in the Twin Cities and I must say that this place had the best selection I've seen yet. I grabbed some Surly, Southern Tier, and Tyrenena on this trip, but they had a lot of other offerings. It would be too extensive to list here, but lets just say if they distribute it in Minnesota, this place most likely has it. The only area that was lacking just a tiny bit was the selection of Belgians. This was nothing to cry about though as they definitely had a lot of great ones. To top this all off, the staff was incredibly friendly and beer saavy. The two guys working definitely loved beer. The prices were great as well. It was $8.99 for my 4 pack of Bitter Brewer, $6.99 for the Southern Tier, and $8.99 for my 4-Pack of Devil Over a Barrel. Compared to other places I've been this was either right on or a little cheaper.

I highly recommend this place. Its too bad I don't live closer.

A real dump with no service I think you would do better elsewhere. There is a little store on Robert Street in South St. Paul near Cub foods just north of 494 that is excellent. If you are looking for the best price on everyday beer, Morelli's in St. Paul is the best I have found.

Cellars is my go to store for beer. They have a great selection and are always willing to help out with what's new in the store. There are a number of staff that are craft beer drinkers too, so I can rely on their opinion for beer I haven't tried. They also will let me know when new things are coming in, so I can plan what days I need to stop in!

Prices generally tend to be in line with other stores in the area (Blue Max, Apple Valley Munis), and occasionally they have really good sale prices on 6 packs.

They also have a make your own 6 pack shelf, and in general are willing to break up existing 6 packs if you only want 1 or 2 bottles of something.

I highly recommend Cellars in Eagan if you are in the area!

I have nothing but great things to say about Jason and his staff at the Cellars, in Eagan. I have been buying beer, wine, and spirits here since I moved to Burnsville in 2008.

Always great selection and they often include Beer Advocate (and Rate Beer) ratings next to beer. Also offer a monthly (or so) email distribution dedicated to releases, tastings, and other beer news. Staff are more than knowledgeable and always willing to help with a courteous attention to the customers likes and dislikes.

Would recomend to anyone in the area, and anyone within the metro. A+ service.

I have been to a couple of other Cellars and their beer selection can be a bit sketchy as far as selection and quality goes. But this store is a definate improvement. Not that the service was anything more than greating you at the door and checking out. A wide selection of regional craft beers that expands beyond their other stores. The import selection was a bit underwhelming however. They did have some pretty good sales on regional beers. I did not see any prices out of the ordinary on other beers. If I was seeking out something out of the ordinary, I would probably travel farther down the road, but as an every day store, this would fit the bill.

They have a decent selection, but prices are way too high. You can easily get the same beers at other places around the cities cheaper.

Their 4 pks and 6 pks were a few dollars higher then I have seen at other places.

Bombers are a buck or two more as well.

I'll go there if I am in the Eagan area and need beer, but that's about it.

Located just off of Cedar and Cliff in a strip mall. Went here for their wine sale and stumbled upon a very good beer selection. One large side of the eisle is refrigerated beers and on the other side shelves of craft/micro brews. In between are seasonals they carry. A pretty small and limited make your own six pack section. The guy I talked with was very knowledgable and helpful. Their selection would be second to only Blue Max for the area. Prices seem to be par for the course. If in the area, a good choice for beer shopping.

Located on Cliff road in Eagan near Highway 77. I often visit this liquor store when looking for a better selection of beer. The selection of beer is pretty good, maybe not the best I have ever seen but they usually have what I am looking for. They are always trying to get new releases in and do a pretty good job. There are several knowledgeable employees who work there that you could talk about beer with for hours. They always let me know what they have in that is new and give great recommendations. The only problem is most of the beer is on shelves and is not refrigerated, though for many of the beers this is not a problem. If you are in the south metro I recommend checking this place out.

Stopped in during a lunch hour and perused this rather extensive beer selection. As has previously been stated, the beer is tucked away in the back of the store, but the walk back isn't scary, don't worry!

A wall was dedicated to coolers of beer, ranging from BMC to the more standard big craft brewers. Across from the coolers, a large shelf carried innumerable 6-packs and bombers of American and imported craft beers. Overall, pretty impressive. A separate shelf (which almost seemed like an afterthought) provided a selection of 12 oz. singles for make your own 6-packs.

I was approached, after arriving in the beer area, and asked if I needed any help. The employee was able to show me their selection, point out some new ones and recommendations, and overall knew about the beer.

This place is very easy to find as it is right off of 35 or cedar. They have a great selection of beers from around the world with very reasonable pricing. In fact they have a good selection of beers that you cannot find at Blue Max. Also the service is great. Everytime I go there I am continually asked if I need any help, greeted, thanked, the whole nine yards. I hate the service at Blue Max so it is very nice to have a place close by with such great service. The beer is way in back and kinda hard to locate on your first trip. Anyways give this place a shot if your in the area. It has great service, a good selection, and is priced good as well.

Located relatively close to 35E in Eagan, this Cellars was an easy stop while working in the area.
Right in the door I was asked if I needed any help, not seeing anything but liquor and wine, I asked where the beer was...I was directed to the back of the store.
Plenty of selection here...I would say pretty standard for the "Cellars" stores...all the Rogues, MN micros, Schell's, some Wisconsin micros (Lakefront, Capital), Victory had a rather good representation. The buyer took about 15 minutes to chat about brews with me...turning me on to Avery and encouraging me to return here when in the area.
The mixed singles were standard on this visit...nothing too spectacular. But they were 10% if you made your own. Good representation of beers from Belgium, England and Germany.
As others have said before me- a good stop if you're already in the area visiting Blue Max.

My third cellars, and my second favorite. Easy to find in a strip mall. Beer aisle is somewhat cramped in the back of the store, but does have a very nice selection. Help was pretty nice, selling me on the Avery line (of which Iw as already sold). Many imports, micros, and all sorts of rarities (een have 12 ozers of Rogue Imperial still). The entire Rogue lineup is there, as well as Bridgeprot, Avery, Schell, Summit, and a whole lot more. I go the the Minnetonka Cellar's location more often, and this one is close, but not as easy to navigate, or has the wide selection of that location. Still nice if you are in the neighborhood.

Here’s a great beer store in a great location. It has two down sides however. The first is its proximity to BlueMax, so any comment about its selection will be immediately dwarfed by the better stocked competitor. The second is the apparent invisibility of its beer! When you walk in the door, all you can see is wine and booze. If it wasn’t for the fluorescent beer signs along the back wall, you wouldn’t be directed to the rear. Once there, the fun starts.
Lots of sixers to choose from in the fridge with all the good German go-to beers, but the magic begins when you turn around and find the selection of singles on the shelf. Belgium is pretty well represented here along with a startling selection from Britain. If you pick up a mixed six-pack, it’s 10% off. Not too shabby. The staff is legitimately interested in beer and is more than happy to assist with a beer selection, or strike up a conversation on beer in general. It’s everything you’d need from you local beer store.

This place really reminded me alot of the Woodbury and Stillwater locations, the set up/layout of the shelves in nearly the same. Well stocked shelves but not enough in the coolers to choose from. I've been to Surdyks when the shelves are nealy empty and it happens quite alot, but this Cellars seems to have their sh*t together. Fine selection of imports and micros. Single choices and the break up of six packs is easy enough, just ask. I didn't purchase anything as I was on a specific hunt for Batch 6000, no luck, and I'm on a tight budget lately, but I was pretty impressed and is right up there with the Roseville location with the overall selection. Good selection of Belgians and well stocked. The only thing that seemed to make a bit of a difference due to its location and layout is that it doesn't have that sub-classy, fun-to-buy-beer feel like when you walk into the Roseville store. Its a bit crowded once you get around the bend to the beer. Alot of stuff stacked up with just enough room to navigate maybe two people at time through the isles. Prices seemed a bit high on a few sixers and singles, but thats about it. This might become a secondary stop coming back from a busted trip to Blue Max, as was the reason for this first visit.

Over the last year or two this store has done a fine job of increasing the breadth of their selection. to the point of being very good. Staff is generally friendly, to the point of being a bit pushy at times. Several have decent beer knowledge and what appears to be a true interest in beer, breweries and distribution.
My major complaint is that they are always more expensive than others. It's easy to buy singles from them and they offer 10% off each 6-pack of singles, but even then it costs more than other places. They also rarely, if ever, have any beer sales of note. Not true with the wine which they put on a significant sale 2x/year. It is a decent wine store too.
Wothwhile for the selection which is second only to Blue Max.
