Thanks to Brad for sharing this bottle. Served in a Dark Lord mini snifter.
Pours a nice deep red color with a thin white head and some light lacing. The nose carries a good dosing of cherries and some light funk. Mild lactic character there as well. Flavor is cherries and lactic acid. Good combination, but lacking in real depth. Crisp carbonation and a nice fruity finish. Dry. Pretty good, but not in the top echelon.

This was my first Lambic. I got it in a bar in Echternach (Luxembourg). For a german Lager drinker a surprise and my personal start to realise that there are other, better beers than Bitburger and Königsbacher.

March 2015: Shared 375 ml green corked & caged bottle, vintage 2012. ABV is 6.5%. Hazy deep red colour, moderate pink head. Lovely aroma of sour cherries and oak. The flavour is medium sour, not extreme - and quite dry for a kriek. Notes of sour cherries of course, and a moderately tart finish. One to buy again.

Label states 25% cherries
Bright scarlet crimson color, sharp clarity and rising carb trails, a finger of light pink foam that dwindles quickly to a thin skim, spotty lacing.
Aromas of natural black cherry and dry oak, soft and pleasant.
Tart natural black cherry, slight pucker that fades quickly. Finishes clean and dry. Fruit forward and not especially complex but pleasant and juicy. Oak from the aroma isn’t really present in the taste though it lends some dryness. Acidity is manageable, a blend of lactic and citric qualities. Pairs well with goat cheese, as most fruit lambics do.
Overall it’s not a bad oude kriek, traditional with no additives thankfully, but also not the most complex. A fine introduction to traditional lambics for the novice lambic drinker.

Dark pink color with pink head. Aroma has lambic funk up-front with just a bit of fruit character. Taste starts sour and fruity with a sulfuric or metallic taste. Body is medium, carbonation too. Definitely a different, more tradtional, approach than the regular Mort Subite Kriek but it has some flaws that keep it back from entering the upper tier of fruit lambics.
