Boddington's Pub Ale from their nitro-can pours with a gushing head into a pint glass. The head takes only a minute to settle and produces an amber ale with a thick, small bubble head. The smell presented very little to the nose; a slight hop aroma but dominated by the malts. The downside of can transportation and storage is that the metallic odor of the can becomes imparted tot he beer's aroma.
The taste is very mild and well balanced. Nothing jumps out from this beer as a dominating flavor; a standard amber ale. The creamy head and malty body give this beer a good mouth feel for those who enjoy a beer with body. The thickness of the beer does limit its drinkability to one or two in a night.
Serving type: nitro-can
