This use to be my 'go-to' beer way back before i got into sours/stouts.

Tasted way better on tap, and like water out of the can, with no carbonation.

You get a bit of a nutty aftertaste and no carb in the mouth feel which is different. Alot of cream at the beginning. You get a bit of a nutty aftertaste.

i wouldn't be against having this again but since then i've had better cream ales.

Served on tap into a 500 ml pint glass at the local pub.

Appearance - light copper colored beer with a nice 1 finger thick creamy head, with enough density that it seemingly has gravitational pull of all objects towards it. Beer is hazy just after pouring but after resting becomes transparent. While the head lasted for an eternity, the head itself was less than 1 whole finger.

Smell - Not a lot, some sweet grain smells, barely detectable malts and completely invisible hops. Not bad just not a whole lot there either.

Taste - Well given the nose there's definitely some flavor in comparison, light corn flavors and tastes a bit watery for my liking especially given how thick and rich this looks.

Mouthfeel - Fairly rich and creamy but almost too much given the absence of big flavors, it's almost a sense of being creamy and heavy just because. Mild carbonation, but isn't too noticeable given the heavier nature of this beer.

Overall - Enjoyable, just not as good as I remembered, and definitely not as good as it looks. Still wouldn't turn it down if offered one.

This one is fairly easy locate and it is too bad it isn't better. Nice appearance with a large foamy head and a pleasant yellow hue. Taste is simply mediocre to poor. Tastes like some macro concoction with off-putting flavours. Nothing really in common with a real English bitter. Nice marketing though.

A - arrived with a thin, creamy head that persisted leaving not so much lacing as much as a sheet of off white foam on the glass. The beer is a clear light golden color. Not bad looking, but the creamy head looks a little odd on a golden colored beer.

S - Not much to speak of.

T - Not much to speak of here either, but it's not bad. Slightly bitter, but no real flavor to go with the bitterness.

M - Creamy. Some say it feels watery, but I didn't get that impression.

O - If you're looking for a sessionable ale with decent presentation and a non-offensive taste you could do a lot worse than this.

I like Boddingtons... I really do, but I will say that it is MUCH better on tap than out of those cans. My review is for the draft Boddingtons.

I had Boddingtons the other day at my local English Pub. It pours golden with a large foamy head that sticks around.. the smell is not so great, but it looks impressive. The taste, like the smell is not overwhelmingly impressive due to its simplicity, but is still quite good. But the mouthfeel of this beer makes it one of my favorites... It slides down your throat thickly, like a milkshake, but doesn't leave any lingering bitterness or nasty mouthfeel.

All in all I enjoy Boddingtons, as it is one of the few decent English beers I can get on tap in Southern California.

My review scores are based on a pull from Champions Pub in Sarasota, FL.

Nice two finger head and deep golden appearance. Good clean taste and creamy mouthfeel with nIce lacing on the glass. Very enjoyable pub beer.

However, I did NOT have the same impression when I have had Boddies from the nitro can. I thought it hat a somewhat bitter and chemical after taste. Not pleasant at all.

On-tap, Jake's Cigars and Spirits, Lincoln, NE:

Appearance: Milky pour, very thick head of foam. Solid golden, classic appearance. Big fan of the appearance. 5/5

Smell is light, hoppy, sweet. What Budweiser should be. 4/5

Taste: Slightly bitter and hoppy. A little watery at first for my tastes. Lacks complexity. But not bad. 3/5

Sits well in mouth. 4/5

Had on tap, poured into a shaker glass. Decent, creamy, off-white head with OK lacing. Slight floral, citrus aroma, mostly malty though. Creamy texture with a malty taste. Some hops were present, but I didn't think that they balanced the sweetness the way I like it. I had heard a lot about the beer and it wasn't bad, just not sure that it measured up to the hype...maybe it's me?...

A: Light golden color, with big foamy head at the top that barely leaves any lacing, this looks like guiness basically.

S: Not to much of a nose on this brew, some malts and some sweetness, nothing crazy.

T: Same as the nose, bit of maltyness, some sweetness, and slight hint of hops, no to much going on here.

M: Medium bodied, smooth, and creamy.

O: Nothing crazy, a simple pale ale.

I'v only had this beer on tap. Its pale yellow with a smooth creamy feel to it. Pours similar to guiness and it seems to taste better if you let it settle after they give you the pint. A little oily and just a bit bitter it doesnt finish as crisp as i'd like but it has that classic english feel and taste. Just grab the darts and a pint of this and your golden!

Poured from a draft into a 20-oz. imperial glass at Hooley’s in La Mesa, Calif. Color was pale honey orange. Tons of head on the initial pour, the most I’ve seen of all the beers I’ve rated so far. Plenty of cloudy, frothy lacing on the top. Cloudy, creamy film on the sides.

Smelled of caramel bitter malts. Reminded me an awful lot of a pilsner. A tad bit buttery.

Initial taste was creamy and bitter up front, giving way to a smooth aftertaste. Bitter finish on the tongue after. Had an apple taste in there as well.

Medium body. Creamy texture. Soft-to-average carbonation. Long and bitter finish. Smooth.

I wasn’t that big of a fan of this beer, especially as the beer went on.

i have had Bodddingtons in a can and had thought not that much of it. when i had it off tap i was very impressed. It pours very nice and has a great pale yellow color.it has a very nice head to it, very creamy. It taste bitter like you would expect but has a very nice creamyness to it. the only down side i found is how low its ABV is. it could have a bit more bitterness too. i think this beer is a very good intro bitter beer if you have not had a lot of bitter beers.

wonderful lacing

S: grain, malt, mild butter

T: sweet grain, light butter, earthy malt, hops

M: Med body, creamy/smooth semi-crisp mouth

O: One of my favorite English Pale Ale's.
Love the look and texture, sure it is very weak
on the nose and flavor, but nice English session

Served in a pint glass.

A: Perfect amber color. 2 finger head retention. Head was creamy and unrelenting.

S: Like foam? I really had a hard time smelling anything through it. I even asked for a second opinion. Nothing noticeable for me.

T: Faint cereal-like graininess, maybe some slight caramel. Bitter finish.

M: Low to medium carbonation. Very smooth and easy to drink due to the creaminess from the continous foam.

O: Not outstanding by any means, but a comfortable choice for a casual social drink, which is most likely exactly what it was intended for.

Served on draught into a generic beer glass at The Lab gastropub in downtown Los Angeles, California. Reviewed from notes.

A: Pours a one finger head of lovely cream lacing, good thickness, and good retention. Light bubble show takes place after the pour, which resolves to a solid yellow colour.

Sm: Cream - that's it. Pleasant but moderate.

T: Quite creamy, with lovely fruit esters accompanying. Bright and pleasant in character. Not complex, but effective and good. Well built and balanced. The cream is a bit bland.

Mf: Creamy, smooth, and wet. Complements the flavour of the body.

Dr: Easy to drink but pricey. That said, I'd have it again.

On tap at a pub in Riga. From notes.

A - Poured a gold or copper colour with a thick creamy eggshell head that came out at 2 fingers. No visible carbonation with insane retention at a solid half finger.

S - Buttery, some light malt-hop balance. Seems very British.

T - Mild with sweet malt and a little hop then back to that creamy malt note.

M - Creamy with light carbonation. Sweetness lingers.

O/D - It was OK. Didn't taste much like anything but it kept me entertained while Russian football was on. The creaminess is a little over the top and it lacks flavour.

Imported from ratebeer.com - JUL 20, 2008

On tap at the Elephant & Castle in San Diego.

Pours a beautiful golden color with thick, frothy Guinness-like white head. Smells malty, perhaps some honey in there... not much smell. Tastes surprisingly creamy, even though it is a bit watered down. Lots of malts, slight metallic tinge, not much else going on. Not bad, not really a fan of bitters.

I remember trying this in cans years ago, so I thought I would try it on-tap. Poured a clear, light golden color with a sustained creamy head that turned out to be the most impressive part of this ale.

Ony the faintest aromas of malt and hops, and this is on-tap and presumably fresh.

The taste follows the aroma - bland. The flavor of malt and hops is barely perceptible. There is a slightly sweet, fruity taste that gives the ale some interest.

The body was rather thin, but the mouthfeel was creamy and smooth. The aftertaste on the palate was faintly butterscotch.

I was looking forward to a light, refreshing ale with low ABV to enjoy on a very warm and muggy July day. I should have chosen a lager. This ale could be a "macro" style ale.

Pint glass served from the tap.

A: Light amber color. One finger white and creamy bubbled head. Medium retention and few lacings

S: Mild smell of caramel malts. Bit grassy hops

T: Follows the nose. Sweet caramel malts followed by a light taste of hops. Mild bitter end. Traditional British ale

M: Very light and watery body. Low carbonation. A little bit molasses. High drinkability

O: Good British ale specimen. To enjoy in the pub

From draft at Nick's Pub in St. Louis

This is my favorite ale. I always get this when it is available on draft. From a can it is remarkably similar to draft.

It arrives at the table still rolling with carbonation. It typically settles with a finger or so if thick, rich cream colored head. Medium to dark amber color. Very pleasant aroma.

The taste is very smooth and mellow. Very well balanced. Slight hop flavor, but not strong or intense. This is an excellent beer to start the night with, or for session drinking.

Almost all clear, but slightly foggy coppy body. White one finger super fine head that sits forever.

Cherry smell, almost exclusively.

Cherry with a bit of metallic copper aftertaste.

Watery mouthfeel, unfortunately. A little creamier, and this beer would have really nailed it.

The aftertaste really dampens this beer's drinkability. I want to get to a lambic to compliment the sweetness or a hefeweisen to make up for the lack of mouthfeel. Almost there, but not quite.

A - Good average looking beer

Smell - Nothing special. Very light smell.

T - Just like water

M - Yh, they talk about how smooth it is and i won't disagagree. It is really smooth. Like a glass of plain water

D - Who the hell will drink this again. It is a glass of water with alcohol and yellow colour.

Note: I really hate this beer and I wouldn't advise anyone to drink it.

This is my standard when it's on tap and there aren't any truly delicious beers available. Not as good in a can. Not the best flavors, but certainly delicious with any meal as it doesn't overpower.

Appearance - Amber, Poors like a Guiness

Smell - Sweet

Taste - Creamy, light hops.

Mouthfeel - Creamy

Drinkability - I could drink this beer all day long.

Had this beverage on tap at the local irish pub. Poured into a pint glass and left a two finger white head that leaves lace and lasts for the duration.

Has a less than aromatic smell and the has a bitter metallic taste. I did chug it down but near painful at the end. I would not recomend this beer.
