Appearance: Golden, clear body, and an off-white, frothy head. Maintains finger width. Great lacing!

Smell: very, very, very faint. Almost none at all, to be quite frank. There's a little sweetness, with a pipe tobacco quality? And maybe a little fruit? I'm not sure what to make of this, because I keep getting these teasing hints of something, but then they quickly fade into nothing.

Taste: much like the aroma, it is almost nonexistent, but it is more pronounced than is the aroma. It is lightly toasty/grainy. Milk is detected in a few of the sips. Mark my words: the taste in this beer is truly almost none at all.

Mouthfeel: thick, fluffy, milky. A slight hop aftertaste.

Finish: watery, and highly refreshing. Highly drinkable.

Overall: this beer is an enigma. I like it a great deal, yet it isn't offering anything at all, really. I like the texture and the appearance a great deal. But there isn't anything to like or dislike about the aroma or taste, because there isn't much to either the aroma or the taste.

Didn't like this beer much till I had it with lemon. Then it wasn't half bad.

Smells and looks great. Taste is pretty damn crappy. It's basically piss water.

for what it is,its a good ale, it takes about 9 to get buzzed but goes down smoother than anything, almost just vanishes as soon as it hits your lips.,making drinking 9 of these pretty easy.

Know that rattle when you shake up a can of Boddingtons? That's a kid's tooth.

The initial pour is excellent, probably due to the widget inside; after about 10 seconds, the cascade of bubbles ceases (not a negative quality in and of itself, simply a noticeable lack of sustainable bubble fall).

The color is "at or slightly below par" when compared to the ideal Pale-Golden Ale.

The smell is pleasant. Creamy, soft, and sweet in aroma, but somehow missing that special something.

The taste is somewhat disappointing after the pleasant aroma. Not a "bad" taste per-say, but it is definitely water-esque. (To elaborate again, watery is not necessarily a bad quality. If "easy going down" is what you're looking for, this may be the beer for you! Just not my cup of alcoholic tea.)

Feel: For me, the feel is one the most important qualities of a brew, and this just didn't do it for me. Boddingtons was uncannily smooth. To put it in a different way: it felt so much like water, my first sip was unpleasant.

I don't want to discourage anyone from trying this beer, because I think that this beer *could* be a good match for someone whom is looking for something extremely smooth, soft, and easy.

(Every beer is worth a try. Like I always recommend, try it one time! If you don't like it, so what? You will have experienced something new! :D )

Cheers Mate!

I am old enough to remember when Boddingtons made a proper beer this is not an example of proper English Beer. Back in the 60s and 70s we had the vile Keg Beers replaced by action by groups like Camera with a return to Real Ale. English Beer is better now than it has ever been yet too many brewers offer awful bland beers like this presumably to encourage younger drinkers to beer or away from lager. Bland and tasteless (other than the metallic aftertaste) this is simply an awful representation of beer.

Thick and creamy. Nice head. Not much taste, airy. Not very filling, in a good way.

Poured from pint can into clear pub glass. Looks promising, nice dark amber color, but fails to deliver...anything, really, except an unpleasant metallic aftertaste. No beer taste to speak of, feels like plain water in the mouth. Perhaps accurate as far as English pubswill goes, but don't waste your money.

Not a strong-tasting beer, nor is it high in alcohol content. But if you want a beer that's easy to drink and tastes good with some fish & chips, or a burger and fries, this is a good choice.

Sort of stuck between being a pale ale and a cream ale. Don't linger over it, definitely best right after pouring. It tastes better on tap.

Can remember drinking this once or twice in England years ago. So for nostalgia's sake I bought some here.

Poured from the 16 oz. can into a Samuel Smith English tulip.

a; Clear copper with a fizzy white head which became more dense and returned to a finger thickness thanks apparently to a nitro widget loose in the can. This dissipated slowly to thick even surface foam and some patchy lacing.

s: Caramel malt and floral notes.

t: Followed the nose but with cloying sweetness which occasionally resembled some sort of bathroom disinfectant, at other times floral perfume. Later it mellowed out somewhat to a mild caramel malt-dominated flavor, but not-entirely-pleasant floral notes persisted.

m: Light to medium, ok body, some nitro carbonation tingle but later went pretty flat.

o; Not your father's English pub ale, or even yours when younger. More like an attempt to lure the Bud-Miller-Coors crowd with sweetness. Dunno if this includes corn or rice but would not be surprised. Have seen the fourpacks going for as little as $6. Now I understand why.

The foamy and creamy head is quite impressive on this one. After that it's kind of downhill. A very slight malt aroma. There is a slight malt taste along with a mild bitter hop finish. However, beyond that it's quite watery and bland. Decent drinkable light and creamy feel but nothing impressive.
I got this out of pure curiosity and now I'm not sure why. I doubt I will get again unless I'm in an actual pub in England.

Very good ale. Would choose this over most pilsners at a bar. Semi brownish color with hints of nuts & cream. Very smooth finish on draft. Easy drinkin beer.

Poured into an Irish tulip glass.

Look: Clear honey golden body after the cascading effect which leaves a tight foamy light cream colored head. Lacing is thick and patchy.

Aroma: Sweet creamy caramel, honey, light grassiness. Smells like a sweet taffy candy.

Taste: Metallic, sterile, almost a band-aid sort of note? Still faint honey in the finish. A crazy bubblegum aftertaste!

Mouthfeel: Creamy and very gassy.

Overall: This beer is all over the place. It smells so much better than it tastes, which is weird. I remember liking this beer a whole lot more before I got into craft. But honestly, I think it was brewed better back then, too.
