Right off of Route 44 near Corbin's Corner... I frequent this same store in Farmington and not much is different. No mix a six program, pretty standard selection and prices, usually a pretty stocked staff in case you did need some help. I would highly recommend traveling the 2 miles down the road to Liquor Depot (next to Staples) because their selection and prices are much better than this place. Wouldn't be bad on its own but when there's a great store down the street it's hard to choose this one.

M&R in Avon seems to have several staff people working anytime you go in there.  I would say the staff is the best part of this store.  They have improved their selection of craft brews and big bottle beers over the years and now have a decent selection.  They often carry Rock Art which is not that common in the area.  I like the fact that you can put your returns down on the table when you walk in and just tell them how many you had when you check out.  You don't have to mess with machines that don't accept many craft brews.  The prices are about average for the big beers and on the low side for the six packs.

Not bad for Ct. I bought A DFH world wide stout here 2007. Besides that T Hooker liberator and if you can afford it Sam Utopia 2005. If you are into rogue they have the brewmaster 08 and double dead guy. I am still very upset that I cannot get Stone anywhere in CT since I can where I used to live in MA. I also got a beer geek breakfast here. The service was good, very attentive. I need to achieve five hundred charecters so i will talk about the fact that they have roch 10, colaboration not litigation, palo santo.

I live pretty close to this place. I stop in once and a while. They have a decent selection of beer, though the store is definitley more of a wine store. Half an aisle of 22oz and 700ml bottles from various breweries, as well as the usual selection of 6 and 12 packs you'd expect to find in a liquor store. The coolers in the back of the store have a good selection of cold beer as well. Prices are what you'd expect to pay. The staff is always friendly and every time I've been in there someone has asked me if they can help me find something. It's also worth mentioning that this is one of the few places in Simsbury/Avon that take back all empties...you jut count them up yourself and tell the cashier how many.

I have been stopping here for some time now, and they always have a good selection. They have some Belhaven, at least five Samuel Smith's, Fischer, all the Chimay, Unibroue and Allagash, some Dogfish Head, four Lindeman's lambics, Thomas Hooker brews, Magic Hat, Harpoon, Long Trail, and several other locals. They also have several brews from Eastern Europe, including several of the Baltika line. They prefer not to break up six-packs, but when they do they offer the singles they get from broken ones in a special section of their cooler. Most of the micros are in the cooler, but a good deal of the imports are shelved.

The service is not that great, except when you get to the checkout line. Their major emphasis at this store is wines, they have a huge selection, and the help is mainly geared for that. They aren't too knowledgeable about the beers.

Still, a good place for a variety that seems to have expanded over the past year or two.

(2-17-05) They just got in some Thomas Hooker's Liberator Doppelbock, and have had some Imperial Porter available for several weeks. Their selection of micros is growin a bit, but unfortunately the row they keep micros and imports in is being encroached upon by wine, so they have cut back a little on imports. Maybe not in varieties, but in number of bottles on the shelves.

I passed by this store on the way to visit a client in Avon today. I went in here looking for CT beers. I ended up getting a Farmington River brew. Come to find out, it isn't even brewed in CT. Oh well.

The store was of good size but dominated by wine. The beer selection was average with all the usual suspects. A couple CT brews, SN, SA, limited German, limited English, very few Belgians, and a ton of macro. As mentioned below, they didn't seem to have any micros warm.

If I were passing by and needed beer, this place would fit the bill.

Stopped into the Avon location, although there are many other locations in central Connecticut. Big place with lots of wines and liquors as well as beer, although the web site only focuses on wine. Selection was just above average. Nothing really interesting at all. They had all the standard, easy to find micros, and an abundance of macros. Couldn't buy any micros warm, they were all cold. No bomber bottles except for one Rogue, and there were only 2 selections available from the entire Rogue line. They did have an area with all of the Octoberfest selections, but again, nothing special there. Decent place to stop in to stock up on old standby's, but not a place to browse or look for hidden gems.
