From: John's Grocery in Iowa City, IA

Glass: Ayinger willi glass

Pours a 2cm head of off-white foam, composed of smallish bubbles on bottom with larger and medium-sized bubbles on top. Eventually, the head collapses to a thick ring around the perimeter of the glass. The declining head leaves minimal lacing along the sides of the glass. Body is a transparent copper-orange color, with light bringing out bright orange hues. Carbonation is visible, but very minimal and sluggish.

Aroma is bright, intense, sweet, and a bit bready. I could envision this being an excellent beer for the spring, when the evenings are still cold enough to warrant a modestly higher ABV beer with plenty of malt and fair hop character. Major components are toffee, thick honey, sweet bread, . The sweetness of the bock is definitely present, but could use a bit more tempering by the hops.

Taste is of honey, fairly bright, toffee-like malt sweetness, and a bit of spicy hops. The flavor reminds me of a less alcoholic version of the Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary Bock. Tasting opens with fairly intense sweetness bearing a resemblance to honey and toffee with slightly flowery hops. Mid-palate brings on a greater intensity of malt sweetness and honey/toffee flavors, with slight bitterness and continued flowery taste from hops. Back of palate has faint bitterness with continued sweetness, honey and bread-like flavors. Aftertaste of lingering bright sweetness with lightly floral and bitter hops.

Beer is medium bodied with low amounts of carbonation, the result is a smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel. Closes semi-dryly, with slight lingering stickiness across the lips.

A-Deep gold with snow white head of mostly fluffy bubbles.
S-Smell is not that strong but I think this is pretty standard for a Mai-Bock. Just a slight malty aroma
T- Again it's pretty right on for a mai-bock, mostly malty sweetness with a bit of heat.
MO -Has a thick creamy feel. Overall a nice beer that comes in a funky bottle.

Appearance: Amber color, light brown head.
Aroma: Bold malty aroma, infused with fruit.
Flavor: Bold malty, apple and raisin flavor, with a bitter, hoppy finish. A full bold bodied beer.
Overall: This beer was somewhat disappointing. First of all, this beer gave off a stale fruit aroma and flavor. It drinks somewhat harsh, with a unpleasant hoppy/bitter finish. Seeing that Maibocks are seasonal, the year-round hybrid missed the mark.

A dark yellow, nearly amber brew that's bright in spite of a slight haze, this beer's head is just short of a full finger tall and lacing is surprisingly sticky and abundant considering it isn't particularly thick or heavy; there's just lots and lots of spotting almost everywhere.
There's lots of bread, a bit of dryness almost getting toward crackery but kept from it by the doughier quality. There's plenty of caramel malt for support, and hops come in with some floral and more earthy than grassy notes. The sweetness in the aroma is a little off with the grainy edge to it, but only slightly at the front. Otherwise, it finishes with a lighter, more honey-like sweetness before some alcohol wafts out along with an expected lightly sulfuric note. The honey is also on the tongue, while the sulfur integrates into the overall profile and the alcohol lies underneath but mostly in the finish.
Starting off sweeter, this light to medium-bodied beer has a light crispness but is quite creamy, and into the finish develops a light dryness to carry it through.

Einbecker Mai-Ur-Bock has a thin, off-white head, a clear, bubbly, old-gold appearance, and just a film of lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet bread, but the smell is not strong. Taste is strong, however, and one gets sweet, syrupy malt, some alcohol, rich, medium-roasted bread crust, a hefty hop bitterness, and cloyingness, to an extent. Mouthfeel is medium and prickly, and Einbecker Mai-Ur-Bock finishes semi-dry, sweet, rich, and relatively easy drinking. Overall, this is a delicious beer. RJT

Poured into a mug. Pours amber red with a small white head. Smells of sweet grain with a tad of earthy hops. Tastes of caramel and nice dark roasted grain. Beer is light/medium body carbonated correctly and goes down great. Overall an above average beer.
