Poured into a Hennipen glass. It's May: time for a Mai-Ur-Bock; why not, and love the bottle.
A-1" dirty lookin' head, but in a real good way, settles to a beautiful scum in under a minute. Beer is orange/amber with slow carbonation of bubbles workin' their way up through the shugga...
S-Sweetness, certainly; malts: definately. Smells great, even with no bracing hop appeal....
T-This beer is great. That was the first thought. This is one of those beers that is all about balance. It is refined, the flavor of the malts (caramel, sweet, but not too sweet) is really good, and this is a very well made brew. Sweetness of the malts and dryness of the alcohol cancel each other out in the taste, leaving behind thoughts like: "Damn, this brewer knows his stuff..." and: "Damn, this wouldn't be too easy to clone in a homebrew..." Obviously, while hops are artfully there: this beer is all about the malts....
M-Medium mouthfeel. Perfect carbonation. A pleasure to quaff, sip, nurse, whatever. Good beer to crawl up into the rafters and ruminate with, if you know what I mean.
D-Do I want another? You know it. Somehow this isn't a session beer, in my book, though. It's a contemplative, subtle, smooth masterpiece, yet 1 or 2 is enough IMHO.
CRUX: EINBECKER MAI-UR-BOCK: GOOD SHIT BY ANY STANDARD, this really is a good beer, and I can't believe I haven't had it before now; the stubby bottle belies and comports a sophisticated brew, and one I shall return to when the mood strikes. The craft and skill that went into creating this brew is obvious. Recommended.

A-Deep gold with snow white head of mostly fluffy bubbles.
S-Smell is not that strong but I think this is pretty standard for a Mai-Bock. Just a slight malty aroma
T- Again it's pretty right on for a mai-bock, mostly malty sweetness with a bit of heat.
MO -Has a thick creamy feel. Overall a nice beer that comes in a funky bottle.
