Muskoka Mad Tom IPA scores extra points(.5) overall for 1- Being a good beer and great example of the style. 2- being brewed in Ontario. 3- Being easily and readily available at the LCBO and Beerstore at a decent price.
Six pack from the Lcbo $12.95 no freshness date noticed. usually Muskoka is pretty good for BB dates. Its nice to see more Ontario brewers attempting American IPAs and not just English IPAs all the time.
A- hazy golden color with a smallish head and a little lace.
S- Malt and hops in the nose, with aromas of pine, grapefuit, orange juice, nice malt aromas also.
T- More of the same, nice injection of hops provide ample (but not overpowering) bitterness with flavors of grapefruit, orange rinds, overall citrus but the nice malts are quite noticeable and make for a well balanced beer.
M- smooth with good carbonation. Dry finish.
Overall Muskoka has brought out a decent AIPA into the Ontario market which could easily hold its own against some of its similar American Counterparts. Well done
