12 ounce bottle, from a six pack a buddy purchased at Trader Joe's. Has "Best enjoyed before" dating notched onto the side of the label. Pours clear, glowing orange tinged amber, medium tan head, leaves barely adequate bits of lace. Lightly leafy hop nose. On the malty side for an AIPA. Hops barely present and not packing anything close to a punch. Works as a sessioner. Nothing to get too excited about.

Opened 12 fluid ounce bottle (marked best before July 2008) and poured into Nonic glass.
Forms loose head atop a hazy light copper colored ale.
Smell is very weak, very light hops. Taste is hops, but not much else -also not real balanced, Too bitter, a bit unpleasantly sour, and hops are just not right. Carbonation seems heavier than it should. Almost a slight metallic aftertaste - and there is an aftertaste.

Pours an orangish yellow sort of color. Smells like a dirty shoe. I actually put my nose to, pulled back and went "UGH!". Some hops on the nose, maybe some citrus, but just doesn't smell appealing at all. Taste seems to be more malty than hoppy. There are hops there, just not much of em. Mouthfeel is at least a bit creamy, carbonated, and nice. Overall, average at best. However, it's a buck, not not bad for a buck.

Served on tap in a pint glass.
Appearance: Amber color with a thin white head.
Smell: Mild smell of pine and hops.
Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth medium bodied. Taste is a strong bitter pine and hops taste. very mild citrus in the background.
Overall: I am a huge IPA guy and I did not really care for this brew. They could have done better.

Poured into a pint glass.
A: It does pour fairly nicely. Decent color, about 2 fingers of head, that dissipate pretty quick but it does leave the glass a little sticky on completion.
S: Smell like someone left a bottle open over night, a little stale, corny, and not much if any hops.
T: Someone else mentioned bubble gum, and I have to agree, it was bubble gum'ee. Also seemed way to sweet, and very little bitterness. I didn't taste any citrus. There is also a strong alcohol taste. Which was a surprise as it's not a high ABV at 6.2%. When I finished it felt like I had drank more.
M: Ok, it felt alright. Like a Pale Ale, nothing to complain about really, but not exciting either.
O: I wouldn't pick up another 6 pack of this. It's the price that called to me, and the desire to try something from Maine. AAt $4.49 I can't say I lost too much.

Deep copper color with brilliant clarity. Minimal head covers most of the top of this beer. Aroma of pine like hops but they don't seem very prominent. The mouth is a bit warm and salty. The flavor is a bit like that of an IPA strained through a dirty sock. The aroma seems to promise more but that taste is rather odd.

Chunky homebrew looking light brown and burnt auburn looking beer. No head or lace, prolly because the carbonation is on par with that of a cask ale. Aroma was alcohol, tea and earthy soil.
Taste, solventy alcohol, no hops, dirt grittiness. Medicinal almost, like when you chew up your Vicodin to get a better rush (not that I would know). Mouthfeel of that stuff, sure. But that stuff isn't good.
This is the worst ipa I've ever had. Keeping with the prescription medication references, another BA (corpulent) who has drank this beer w/ me before (it took like 2 years to get rid of a 6 pack of this crap) once told me a story about trying darvocet for the first time. To illustrate how sucky it was he said "Darvocet = the kennebunkport ipa of narcotics." Great line.
For my two cents, I think it really tastes like they brought some butthole soup to the bottling line.

12 oz. bottle poured aerved in a pint glass.
Appearance: Pours a darkish amber color. Clear, with visible carbonation. Small off-white head with decent retention.
Smell: Nice malts with a hint of cognac. Smells very sweet. Where are the hops?
Taste: Sweet hit followed by a more balanced sweet/bitter profile. Still, it remains rather sweet, and is dominated by caramel malts. Hints of apple juice and spicy hops.
Mouthfeel: Light- to medium-bodied; light carbonation. Smooth.
Overall: better than merely drinkable, yet this is no IPA. Will taste better if you think of it as an amber or brown ale.

Picked this up at trader joes. Poured a dark amber color with an average amount of head. Not the typical hoppy nose. Smells a little off. Not a good flavor either. Doesn't seem like an IPA at all. Need to pound this one and move on Not a big fan of this beer. Live and learn.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Best by April 2014 notched on the label.
A: Pours a clear amber with a frorthy white head. Spots of lacing on the sides of the glass as the head dissipates. Some visible carbonation.
S: Not a very strong aroma, hops are a bit difficult to pull out. Fermented fruit.
T: A decent amount of hop bitterness in this one. Tempted to say there is more bitterness than flavor from the hops. Not sure how good that is. Malts add some carmel sweetness to it but are again overpowered by bitterness.
M: Medium body with somewhat low carbonation. A tad sticky from the combination of hops and malt sweetness. Dry finish.
Overall to the point IPA at a reasonable price. Won't blow you away with flavor but still has more than your standard beer.

Poured from bottle to standard pint glass
A: Hazy golden amber
S: Citrus with honeydew. Very mild. You really have to stick your sniffer in to get a whiff.
T: Hoppy bitterness that recedes rather quickly to a bubblegum and honeydew flavor. Plum is definitely in there as well, as pointed out by many other reviewers.
M: Not much carbonation, and comes off a little watery for an American IPA.
D: If you are looking for an IPA, you might want to keep looking. This doesn't taste, nor feel like one. Its not horrendous, but its not great either.

Color is a glowey amber, clear, and topped by a nice sized white head. The head fades pretty fast leaving tiny bits of fleeting lace behind. Aroma smells like grassy, grapey hops on top of buttery doughy malts. Taste is a little buttery too. The hops add some nice bitterness. Almost a little sour, in a good way. The carbonation is at a good level too. Mouthfeel is a weeee bit syrupy, medium to light body.
Not a bad IPA. Not my favorite, but perhaps I'll get it again sometime. Semi exciting to consume.

12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: Medium copper-color with mild head retention and moderate carbonation to the top of the glass.
Smell: Mostly sweetness with little representation of hops, whether its earthiness, citrus, or anything. Never would've guessed this was an IPA.
Taste: Way too sweet for an IPA, with not enough hops or anything biting whether it's herbal or citrus or anything else.
Mouthfeel: A bit too cloying and sweet with not enough carbonation.
Drinkability: One of the weakest IPAs I've ever tasted, but again, it's nothing I can't drink. That said, it's not something you want to seek out. If you're at TJs, grab a bottle at your own risk and try it if you want, but there are better beers.

Picked up a six-pack for $5.99 at Trader Joe's - let's see:
Poured from a 12oz bottle into my Dogfish Head shaped pint glass.
ECE/SAE amber liquid, clear and capped by a half finger of beige fizz which appears lackluster yet stands by with good retention and leaves a path of delicate lacing behind when you swirl the glass.
Candied oranges and a kiss of passion fruit in the nose - vaguely syrupy/artificial. A low yet bright maltiness offsets the fruit.
Grassy hop flavor leads the palate entry but never delivers the bitterness you might expect; instead a sweet citrus-flavored medicinal note emerges and leads into the faintly metallic finish. Somewhat bland and rough overall, though there are some biscuity pale malt notes which I guess would balance the hops if the latter ever arrived.
Light-bodied, brisk mouthfeel with good carbonation.
Even for the price, this vacilates between messy and mediocre - there are far better choices, especially in SoCal - I'd advise avoidance. That said, if my expectations were set for an "English IPA" I might re-evaluate...

Appearance: Excellent layer of tan foam that dissipates quickly. Rather red for an IPA.
Smell: Sweet. Almost adjunct-like. It actually smells like caramel corn.
Taste/Mouthfeel: This is not an IPA. A lot like an amber ale...quite sweet. More caramel. There's a burned popcorn flavor in the finish that I don't like. Mouthfeel is actually ok. Good crispness, despite the cloying sweetness, but the burned flavor overwhelms.
Overall: A bad IPA but an ok amber.

Poured light amber orange and hazy with a tan head of about two fingers.
The aroma of pine hops and nothing else
a pine bite as far as taste.
Really light and crisp with the hoppy bite and high carbonation. Drinkability is ok for an IPA but not as hoppy as I expected.
