Appearance: dark brown in color, 1/3 inch head, medium carbonation, clear

Smell: caramel and bread--not as strong smelling as I would have thought

Taste: toffee, sugar, raisins, breadiness

Mouthfeel: medium bodied and carbonation, sweet

Drinkability: This one is interesting. I do get toffee and light pudding, but maybe not the stickiness. The taste is very much front-forward and is not as strong as the beer lingers. I would get this again if it was offered, but prefer the banana bread beer

Appears a deep crimson brown hue with a beige flowing head, fine speckled even lacing on the sides of my glass. Aroma has a candy like toffee/caramel note with a bready base ale lying underneath the flavor additions. Flavors are very tame a dirty muddled roasted malt layer, finishing earthy with a metallic penny like flavor. A hint of caramelized sugars/toffee the nose carries out the Sticky Toffee Pudding much better than the palate picks up those flavors. Mouthfeel is medium bodied mild carbonation a bit of astringent metallic notes lingering between sips. Overall a very forgettable beer, I don't even think the same folks who go crazy over their banana bread beer will think much about this offering.

12 oz bottle served in a Belgian snifter.

Dark clear brown body with a modest, semi-durable head.

Like the name, the aroma features toffee and promises a sweet ale; probably too sweet,
Fortunately, that is not the case as this ale is only mildly, and appropriately, sweet, with a solid, medium-dark malt base. Toffee and butterscotch dominate the nose, while the flavor adds a hint of dairy (pudding).

O: not great, but doesn't disappoint.

Clear despite being a dark red-brown with lots of highlights, this beer certainly doesn't have the thickness or body it might if it was Americanized. It stays true to form, as it should. The head is light-medium brown, thick and dense though not huge. It's tall enough, though, and keeps its form well while dropping to a heavy, craggy foam that deposits legging pretty thickly.
The smell is pretty much what I hope for. Toffee is prevalent, soft, creamy and very mildly smoky and just right with the sweetness. It keeps its English character, some mineral, very light earth but kept back, and a hint of leaf to attribute to a very light hoppiness. The pudding is front and center, and I like it a lot.
The flavor doesn't quite translate so fully, but only on account of the malt and hop character coming out more strongly. it doesn't overshadow the toffee pudding by any account, but the mineral aspects and the dry leaf are enough to distract from it somewhat. It loses a little of the sweetness with that leaf and mineral, too.
The feel is the traditional light medium of an English brown. Some dryness brings a bit of slightly chalky character after a sweet start, though the sweetness is never lost. It's pretty smooth, with a nice creaminess underlying a soft crispness. The mineral aspect sometimes feels like it thins out the body at points in some English ales, and it does ever so slightly here. Well done, though, all said.

500ml, seemingly melting-toffee soaked bottle, with Doctor Seuss-friendly copy type.

This beer pours a clear, dark red-brick amber hue, with two bulbous fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and a tad creamy ecru head, which leaves some streaky coral reef lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of sugary caramel/toffee/treacle/butterscotch in spades, right off the bat, with some warm raisins and prune associated dark fruitiness, suggestions of bittersweet chocolate, hearty crackers, root beer, and earthy, musty, and leafy hops. The taste is more of the same - intense caramel/toffee sweetness, a strangely, um, 'balancing' bitter astringency - one mostly bready cracker, metallic hard water, and leafy hop in orientation - and more weird sarsaparilla and organic root beer earthiness.

The carbonation is on the light side, in an understated, playfully frothy manner, the body an adequate medium weight, and mostly smooth and creamy, as one might expect, until that weird, multifaceted bitterness alights upon the scene. It finishes off-dry, as the initially hale and hearty toffee pudding sweetness comes to terms with its lack of overbearing stature. Don't weep for it.

Well, this offering certainly brings the toffee, and a few of its less illustrious friends, but eventually succumbs to a not altogether pleasant, and sort of tacked-on drying binge. Yes, there is a disjointed thread running throughout, like two sides that can't seem to just get their shit together and work things out. Ah well - I'm sure I would have been wanking on about the lack of balance otherwise, so, damned if you do...and so on.
