Cloudy orangey honey colored with an off-white head. Nothing jumps out in the nose, but perhaps a slight sweetness. This tastes like it could be a fruity nut brown rather than the honey beer it's suppose to be. The honey flavor is very subtle. There's a brief wave of the taste over the tongue approximately once every other sip. It was a sharp and bitter in the mouth at first and the sour aftertaste lingered. Not terrible, but not terribly good.

Nice golden color with a thin head with medium retention and leaving some laces. Light aroma of honey and pale malt with hints of English hops. Taste followd nose, but is less subtle. Flavor of pale malt with a mild spicy yeast and English earthy hops. Hints of honey and flowers. Dry with a medium bitterness aftertaste. Light body with perfect carbonation. A mellow English Pale Ale, not overly sweet being very mild on the honey proposition. Not really packed with flavors, but pleasant with good drinkability.

Another honey beer waiting to disappoint me, this time it's Well's Waggle Dance, you know - that thing bees do to direct other bees in the hive to pollen so they can create their sweet sweet honey for us humans to steal, that thing.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a St Feuillien chalice.

A: Hazy amber body with white soap bubble lace on top.

S: The aroma is typical English Pale Ale territory; toasted malt base, bread yeast, floral and earthy hops. Where's the honey? It's there but it's a faint wisp in the background, certainly not enough to get anyone excited about having a honey ale that's for sure.

T: Flavour profile begins with a (tiny) hint of honey, follows thorough with toasted malt, bread yeast and ends with those floral/earthy hops. If this was rated as just a Pale Ale it would be average at best, however as its main claim to fame is "honey ale" it does fail spectacularly on delivering that promise. Metallic note mid-palate does it no favours either. All this being said though there is an after-taste of lingering honey once you've had a few sips.

M: Mid to light bodied with light carbonation.

D: This brew is definitely underdone, as was their Banana Bread Beer, if you're going to get people excited with a promise of sweet sweet honey which we stole from the bees you better deliver it dammit! Overall a disappointing ale which I will begrudgingly finish and never buy again.

Food match: Light meats like chicken or pork would compliment this, along with a salad or peas, mash potato and white sauce.

500ml bottle served in a Pint glass.

A: First of all, nice transparent bottle. Nice bottle art. Pours a dark yellow (honey like) clear color forming a big bubbled light yellow color. Low retention and some lacings left

S: Sweet honey in the nose. Metallic too. Sweet malts and some floral hops. Honey is not overwhelming. A bit of alcohol in the very end

T: Follows the nose, sweet honey and caramel malts upfront. Metallic. Flowery hops and yeasts. Mild hoppy bitter end

M: Light body and medium carbonation. Good smooth mouthfeel. Sweet upfront and mild bitter aftertaste

O: Easy drinking beer. Despite of its sweetness, a pleasant session beer

Bottle: clear bottle (that came over from England - hope there's no light strike!). Standard label. Not a brilliant package, can rely on the brewery name at least.

Appearance: amber in colour, with a decent but far too fluffy white head that disappears almost immediately.

Aroma: a combination of light aromas - honey is certainly there, but also floral and spices. I do like that the honey is not overdone.

Taste: similar to the aroma, honey with some floral and spices (cloves and grassy hops). Not brilliantly combined, but not offensive either.

Aftertaste: dissipates rather quickly, to be left with an almost tannin-style film on the palate.

Mouth feel: fairly light body and low-to-medium carbonation. Certainly goes down easily - perhaps a bit too much so.

Overall: a reasonably well made honey-based brew. If this was around AU$60-70 a case for 24x330mL, it would be worth it. But for $90 a case of 12x500mL, no mother-lovin' way.

Bottled or straight from the tap, if you're lucky, this beer reminds me of what's good about drinking beer outside on a spring day. It's clean crisp flavor is a welcomed taste from the dark & heavy beers one tends to drink in the cold weather. And because of it's taste, it goes well with the lighter spring foods but is bold enought to hold up with summer's bar-b-ques.
