Presentation: 16.9oz. brown bottle; "best before end" warning -- in this case "April" -- notched on the rear label's bottom periphery; purchased for $2.99 from "No. 1 Liquor Mart" on Aviation off PCH.
Appearance: Completely opaque; good-sized, mocha-hued head; a solid b-cup's worth of lace; nice head retention.
Aroma: Pleasantly of chocolate and cherries; faintly vinous and roasty.
Taste: Lightly sweet upfront with a soft, rolling, coffee-like bitterness in the finish; primary flavors are of a gentle, bittersweet chocolate and a mild espresso; secondary characteristics include a slight, acidic twang, hints of dark fruit and an ever so mild touch of grain; soft, velvety mouthfeel; medium bodied.
Notes: Enjoyed this a good deal, though wasn't entirely blown away.
