A very sweet malty smell, almost syrupy. Pours solid black in color with a nice creamy thick head that sits around a while. This beer has an awesome taste to it. Roasted grains with a chocolate/coffee finish. Mouthfeel is a bit sharp up front, mild carbonation and finishes creamy and smooth.
I don't know what I was expecting drinking this, but I was extremely surprised at my first taste of this beer. "Awesome" was the first words out of my mouth. The roasted grains really come through. A medium body to this beer makes it really drinkable. I only wish now I would have bought two of them.

This one's from a one pint bottle.

Appearance is absolutely black with a creamy tan white head that remains a blanket over the top and laces nicely on the glass.

Smell is light and of roasted barley.

Taste is delicious. A nice full body with a mild coffee bitterness, or even sourness, but not as burnt toasty as a Guiness, say.

Mouthfeel is good and round, not very thick, with a nice bit of carbonization, as well.

Drinkability is very good. It's not a particularly heavy stout to me, which encourages me to have a couple more.

It's mighty good.

Purchased at Ye Olde Forge, Lanesboro, MA. 16.9 oz bottle. My first oatmeal stout.

Pours out very dark, creamy head, looks a lot like Guiness.

Nice smell, not overpowering. Notes of chocolate and vanilla, coffee, and of course oatmeal.

The oatmeal really comes through in the taste, but it serves to push the other flavors forward as well. The burnt flavors typical of stouts come through nicely, creating a warm and welcome experience. Finishes smooth and sweet, just a touch of hops that bitters and balances out the malts.

Goes down smoothly. Very creamy, it lingers in your mouth. Light carbonation, but that seems to suit this beer very well.

Overall, a very drinkable beer. It gets better as it warms up a bit, and next time I would let it sit for a few minutes before drinking to allow it to warm. A little too heavy to be a session beer, it's a nice treat when looking for a rich stout. I would not hesitate to have it again.

16.9 oz bottle, poured into a pint glass. served at 55 degrees.
smell: very, very light... creamy, a little bit nutty, a sense of the carbonation.
pour: dark but not pitch black. rather a deep brown fading into black. tall head, bordering on a dark beige.
taste: a bit difficult to distringuish. nutty, almonds, very creamy, yet the carbonation is very much there. perhaps a little too assertive. seems like a very good session beer, and goes down quite easily -- perhaps too easily. not too much body to it... but wait. after a few minutes out, opens up much more.. hints of coffee, malt, fuller body and an excellent aftertaste on the back of the tongue.

general: a good session beer.. make that a very good session beer, and certainly good with a meal. but not something that will make your night. make sure to drink fairly warm though and let it open up a bit... initial taste was far worse than the beer is capable of.

Very smooth to the taste, almost like drinking a rich chocolate milk. A bit of a smoky nutty aftertaste. Incredible silky texture. This is definitely one of the better stouts I have tried in a while. The alcohol was well hidden. I had it on tap and it came out great. I would definitely suggest it.
