A: Yellow golden with a kind of dark red hue to it. Lacing is awesome.

S: Banana definitely. Some candy and light malt as well.

T: Banana bread, wheat, nutts, butter, honey, and spice. An awesome taste in my opinion.

M: Lighter side of medium with a nice creamy feel. Goes down so smooth.

O: Though the beer has not-so-good ratings; I like it a lot. It's a solid brew that is good for just relaxing and enjoying a nice flavor.

You can definitely smell banana bread! Really interesting and everybody at our table had to try it! It has really good color the taste is more on the sweeter side. One negative for me is that this beer felt "thin"... I guess since I like stouts I prefer full bodied beers.

I own a bar in wisconsin, we specialize in micros and imports. Been doing it as a profession for 7yrs. I am not a beer expert but i know what i like. I like this beer! I drink a lot of jameson. When i want to ease off of drinking or have a relaxed drinking engagement this beer is a go to. Very drinkable and smooth. Not filling can have 3 or 4 in a row and its not overwhelming. Like a pilsner with a banana boost! Not sweet banana flavor its more savory. We do joke and say who put the banana laffy taffy in my beer! Hint of that flavor. It is a must try! Not steering you wrong to the expert and the green horns enjoy!

This beer really did have an unusual flavor of banana nut bread. The beer really had a crisp and small flavor profile that was more malt forward than hoppy, but the fruit portion was unusually perfect when compared to banana bread. I wouldn't be able to drink more than one of these in a session, but for an after dinner drink, or a drink to break away from the norm, this one really hit the spot. I was surprised that I did like this, as I didn't think it would be up my alley. I wouldn't go out of my way to find it, nor would I say it was a great beer or worth buying if I ever found it in bottles, but it was an enjoyable beer to sip on at a bar with some friends.

Served on tap at Cork City in Hoboken, NJ

A: Pours a clear dark golden yellow in color. The beer has a finger tall off-white head that reduces to a small patch of extremely thin film. Light to moderate lacing is observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of bready malts along with sweet banana - actually the smell reminds me quite a bit of actual banana bread.

T: Taste just like banana bread - there is a bready malt body with some light hints of nuts and sweet banana. The taste is pretty well balanced.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp and the finish is dry.

O: Very enjoyable, quite interesting that the beer has the flavor and smell of banana bread so accurate. I liked this beer but it is not a sessionable one for me - I could see myself really enjoying this in the fall.

Pours a clean yellow to orange-ish color, with an off white head. In the aroma, it smells like banana Runts. In the taste, banana bread, with a pleasant note of cinnamon. A small bite and a medium bodied mouthfeel, with a dry ripe banana in the aftertaste. Just like what it's called, banana bread beer.

The pour is a amber color with a decent off-white head.

smells like banana bread. notes of banana, subtle spices, and a light nutty aroma.

Tastes of sweet banana and caramelized sugar flavors, along with a hint of toasted nuts.

Feel was probably the low point of beer... a bit light and on the watery side.

Had low expectations on this beer but actually enjoyed it. tastes like banana bread without being to doughy or malty. don't think I could drink it consistently but liked the experience.

Always passed this beer over when I've seen it on the shelf. Had the opportunity to have it from tap so I bit.

A: Pours a goldish yellow with a thin white head that receded quickly to a splotched cap.

S: Banana, bready, and buttery. Exactly what you would expect out of a beer called banana bread beer.

T: It's exactly what you'd think. It has strong banana flavor and bready flavors. Almost tastes like a flavored alcohol. Slight fake taste, but it was enjoyable.

M: Real easy to drink. Good coating and aftertaste.

Pours brownish amber with just a small amount of cream colored head, dissipating quickly.

The nose has a lot of banana notes resembling a runt candy. Candy and sweet smelling.

The taste resembles banana bread pretty nicely. Sweet and quite rich. That runt taste is a bit much but still tasty.

The mouthfeel is a bit thinner than I wanted it to be with those rich flavors.

Overall, tastes like banana bread but is pretty intensely flavored. The mouthfeel could use some work too.

On Tap at Blue Dog.

Wells Banana Bread Beer is a light looking lagerish beer with a hazed yellow color to it and a short lived burst of white bubbles on top, no stick. Smell is what is advertised, banana and a whole lot of it. Some cereal scent after all the hoopla, small amount of grain. Taste is less artificial than expected, i was expecting this to be a sweet sugar bomb, while it's more of a lightly sweet banana infused pale ale without the hops, if that makes sense. Feel is very light with a low amount of bubbled activity, kinda dead on the mouth. I drank it and that's that, not something I would go for again. A bottle of this would be ideal to split with a group of 5 people or so, with a banana infused dessert, or just simply dump the bottle into your next banana inspired dish.

Had it served in a pint glass at a pizza join.

Appearance - It is a clear golden brown brew with a light cream colored head.

Smell - I could smell vanilla, maybe pecan or walnut tones, a slight yeast note, and the aroma of ripe bananas.

Taste - The immediate flavors of caramel and vanilla are followed by banana. Definetly tastes like banana bread. Definelty a subtle beer with the overall flavors. Virtually no alcohol taste.

Mouthfeel - A lighter, thinner brew with slight amounts of carbonation.

Drinkability - It is a unique brew, but definetly a good "drinker." Worth a shot.

I had to buy this beer because I LOVE bananas. When they called it a banana beer, they meant it.

Aroma is strong, and banana scent dominates. It pours a nice golden amber with a decent but not persistent head. Flavor is rich and very banana-y so it is rather like drinking a liquid banana - very distinctive. There is a fair amount of hop flavor and a touch of malt and yeast. Texture is smooth and pleasant, but just a little zingy.

Caution: Keep away from monkeys. :D

On first glance, this beer poured a nice amber tone with a fine head that lasted for most of the drink. The bouquet was a mixture of subtle banana, malt and a dash of grain.

The initial mouthfeel was interesting. The first taste had a bit of an alcohol bite that I had never felt before on an English beer. After that quick bit faded, that hint of banana and malt came through, leaving the old taste buds satisfied. The sips that followed were very enjoyable.

Overall, nice mouthfeel, good taste, a beer for the lover of UK beers!!

I'm still kicking myself for ordering a glass of this at Max's the other day. Told myself I needed to be less stodgy, don't always have to order IPA's and Belgiums. Sigh...

The beer pours a light amber color with good head retention and lacing. On the nose, well, the beer smells like banana bread. A rather sweet and malty banana bread if truth be known. However, as soon as I tasted this beer I knew I'd been had. The banana aroma is a complete gimmick, and the beer itself is very light, thin, watery and simple. Finish is practically non-existent. I could tell the abv. was pretty low, but even so I would not describe this beer as very drinkable.

This beer isn't poison, but it's nothing special either. Very unimpressive.

On-tap at J.P. MacGrady's in Bethlehem, PA.

It's not bad, it's just bland. The problem is it's called banana bread beer and you expect some banana and bread flavors. I didn't get any of that, it was just sweet and smooth without anything standing out. Came off like an average amber ale.

Initial aroma and flavor is banana runts. After some time it mellows out to a reasonable banana presence, but the bread part is a bit lacking. Would be nice if this had a bit more of a malt backbone to stand up to the banana -- a bit of roastiness and nuttiness would probably complement it nicely. Still, it's pretty drinkable once the artificial-seeming aroma fades. A decent beer for when you're in the mood for something unusual.

16.9 oz bottle into a pint glass

A- A clear amber color with a two finger white head.

S- Banana bread, faint hops, some cloves and wheat. Really what you would hope banana bread beer would smell like.

T- Doesn't live up to the nose, sweet malts, some bready malts, faint earth hops, very muted compared to what I was hoping it would be.

M- Smooth, light to medium body.

O- If this tasted like it smells this would be a great beer, but I feel it is average at best. It is drinkable and fairly enjoyable but could be much better.

Light red-amber. Good clarity. A halo of suds doesn't look impressive.

Buttery notes, banana, toffee, treacle, malt sweetness, and Wonder Bread. Minimal hop bitterness.

The bitterness is here now, mild and a little spicy. Banana is very mild, semi-lost, nutty, and a little caramelized. Toffee notes and pale malts bring out treacle notes. Still more generic white bread flavors after fermentation. Metallic finish.

Feels okay. A little thin-bodied. Carbonation has a slight burp, but not a critical error.

I get the 'banana bread' thing, but the flavors are weak. Okay, if not close to average.

Purchased in Canton at Holiday Market

A: pours a faint orange with a carbonated head that dissipates fast and leaves zero lacing. Active carbonation and holds a small ring of head thru the experience. Nothing spectacular.

S: Best part of this beer is the smell. Fresh baked bread, crystal malt, and of course B-A-N-A-N-A-S.

T: Thin candied malts... bud light esq funk to it.. artificial banana mostly, but tastes much much better a bit warmer. Out of the fridge its crisp and tart. Light and very carbonated. Not too bad.. but dissapointing to me. Wish it had more body and fullness. Its just too... thin and simply... lacking.

M: Not much here, comes and goes. Thin and crisp.

Overall wish this beer had more depth and flavor. Too crisp and clean! But its worth picking up to try.. definitely a good beer, just wish it was an outstanding beer !

Poured out of a bottle into a Tulip. Bottled on 24-Jun-2013.

Banana reminiscent of Laffy taffy and Circus Peanuts! (the chewy candy, not the actual nut.) Hint of caramel malt. Low diacetyl detected. No alcohol. No hops.

High clarity, dark golden, leaning towards amber. Moderate head quickly reduces to a lacing around the edge of the glass.

When the beer first enters your maw nothing specific jumps out. Move it around a bit and you're first greeted with a subdued banana flavor, followed by a hop bitterness, then more banana and a solid dose of pale malt, breadiness and biscuitiness, followed by a finish of more hop bitterness. As the beer warms more of the malt profile shines through, rounding the beer out a bit and making it more balanced.

Light-bodied. Moderate carbonation. Dry finish.

Overall Impression
This beer's had a good rep in the beer world, and there aren't many banana beers out there. For what it is I think it's a well-made, pretty well-balanced beer. Overall the banana-ness tastes and smells a bit artificial to me. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but if you're expecting a fresh banana experience you'll be a bit disappointed. Not overly sweet, so you could definitely drink more than one of them without palate fatigue.

A: Clear amber, a good amount of carbonation is visible. Thin off-white head, some webs of lacing.

S: Banana bread. Banana, wheat, nuttiness. Warming and mouth-watering, if a little weak.

T: Banana bread. Buttery wheaty banana bread, even encompasses some walnut notes. Overall sweet, but nowhere near cloying. No spicy hops like the label advertises, but I'm happy about their absence.

M: Medium carbonation, medium to thin body, but perfectly matched with the flavors- so easy drinking. I don't understand people who say they could (only) down 2 of these without a problem- I'm in danger of finishing my entire 4-pack.

O: It would be easy to fall short or go overboard with a liquid recreation of banana bread, but this one hits that in-between perfectly. Not a beer for Reinheitsgebot-followers, but for beer or baking enthusiasts, this is highly recommended.

Sampling right now on 1/22/14 and had this one once before back in 2012 I believe. Comes in a single 550ml (16.9 ounce) bottle. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F and poured into a brandy snifter.

Pours a pretty amber in color with a very small off-white head that settles down to around the top of the beer along the glass. Some spotty lacing was seen with each sip. When first opened you can smell the bananas with malt. Very pleasant. The taste would be expected as with the smell, bananas and yeast/malt, hense the name. A different beer that is tasty and not bitter as well as a good aftertaste.

A-Poured from bottle into lager glass. No real head or lace (could be my poor pour). Nice colour.

S-Faint banana and toffee smell, nothing overpowering or fake scent.

T-Was expecting a mouth full of banana bread taste, got subtle banana taste with a pepper/sweet aftertaste. Found the taste of banana bread to grow the more I drank.

M-Good feel, slightly creamy, nice carb.

O-Slightly let down by the sublte-ness of the flavour. A dessert beer for sure, not sure what else you would have with it. Glad I got to try it, but not sure if I would drink again.

Bomber into pint glass

Appearance - light amber, crystal clear, one finger head recedes to foamy cap, sticky lacing

Smell- smells like well....bread crust, fairly strong bananas but not cloying or negative in any way. A bit sweet with spices like cinamon and clove, clean.

MF/Taste - creamy, medium body, tingly and light carb. Flavor, like the smell, is almost a dead ringer for banana bread...impressive. Toasty bread, banana, a bit nutty. Very slight bitter twang on the back end, finished fairly dry.

Overall 4.25 - This beer exceeded my expectations in a big way. The fruity banana flavor is not cloying at all, and the toasty malts are in perfect harmony.
