Appearance: little to no head formed. Body was clear and amber in colour.

Aroma: Hops where light, got a lot of bread / biscuit and caramel on the nose. And of course, lots of banana.

Taste: mouthfeel was medium with slick texture. Got low to med bread / buiscuit and a little to med banana. Carbonation was average with a nice long dry finish.

Overall: I was very pleased with this beer. It has a long lasting flavour profile and the hops balanced the malt even though you get lots of banana. This is something that you can have from time to time and enjoy. May actually go well with breakfast.

Bottle: Poured a clear light brown color ale with a medium size foamy head with minimal retention and some very light lacing. Aroma of banana notes is quite strong with light sweet notes also noticeable. Taste is also dominated by banana flavours with some sweet notes. Body is a bit light with medium carbonation. Interesting at first but the aroma gets to be a bit too much after a while.

First review, so here it goes:

L: light, copper color with a slight head that went down quick. Clear, with carbonation
S: Bananas, with a hint of breadiness and spices
F: Light carbonation, very smooth
T: Banana bread, pure and simple. Very little spice, but just malty enough to show through the banana. Little to no bitterness.
O: very nice. Definately one to drink again...but I like bananas.

500 mL bottle poured into a pint glass at fridge temperature.

L – Pale amber color with a 1-finger bubbly white head that fades pretty quickly. Not much lacing. Clear with lots of carbonation bubbles.

S – Definitely fresh bananas and grainy, bready malt. The bananas are fresh, too, not artificial or yeasty byproduct aromas. They nailed the banana bread.

T – Starts off sweet with fresh bananas and bready malts. Then, it transitions into this metallic and bitter, almost astringent, taste. The bitterness may come from the hops, but I can’t really pick out any other hop notes except for maybe some spice. Nevertheless, this bitterness clashes with the banana taste pretty harshly.

F – Light-to-medium-bodied with lots of carbonation, a creamy but metallic mouthfeel, and a strange bitter and metallic finish. This bitter taste lingers for a little while.

O – This is a really nice beer until that bitter and metallic taste comes into play. They certainly got the banana bread part right in the aroma and at the start of the flavor, so they definitely get points for that. The overall drinkability and enjoyability of the beer suffers due to the odd finish. All in all, this is an average fruit beer that was nice to try, but I probably won’t be looking for it again.

Appearance: Clear, lighter orange. Not so much coppery as pale orange.

Smell: Bananas all the way! Not so much in the yeasty way, but an overt aroma of ripe bananas. There us a touch of the English Ale base beer in there as well. Delicate malt balance but the banana is the star of this beer.

Taste: Wells did a fantastic job pairing the banana with a solid, yet subtle English Ale. It definitely tastes like banana bread that's been soaked in beer. Not really any other way to describe it. Hops are there at the end as well as the malt.

Mouthfeel: Pretty subtle in carbonation as I suppose is common with a lot of English ales. I drank it after it chilled for about an hour in the fridge, and it was a perfect temperature. Not syrupy, but rather rich and full bodied in mouthfeel.

Overall: I'm quite impressed with this Banana Bread beer from Wells. The flavour and aroma is spot on-not overdone at all, but definitely powerful enough to let you know that the star of this beer is, invariably, the banana.
