Presentation: 500ml custon Young's bottle. No freshness date.
Appearance: Dark copper with a super rocky, clingy, off-white head that sticks to the glass. Excellent head retention.
Smell: Big fruity ester nose with bready/yeast aromas and raw hop leafiness.
Taste: Medium to full mouthfeel. Sweetness is super dextrinous. There's also an almost pear like fruity sweetness and coarseness in following. Actually it's very pear like in character, followed by a touch of caramel/toffee malt sweetness that doesn't last that long. Hop twang bitterness about midway through. Gets a bit bready/yeasty, then dry towards the finish. Hop is raw, leafy. More bready/yeasty flavours in the finish. Odd aftertaste.
Notes: Very English in taste, but not very impressive if compared to other Winter Warmers or Young's other brews. Yeasty all over, and not at all warming.

Pretty amber beer, low wispy head.
Aroma of toffee covered figs and wet hay hops.
Flavor is remarkably rich with balanced fruit esters and caramel sweetness and an earthy hop bite of grass and leather.
Finish is soft and malty with a hint of hop bite.
A great ale ( or was) in season and if you can find it, particularly good on tap.

Cask. Clear dark amber with a thin bubbly head.
Rich aroma of roasted malt, autumnal fruit and toffee.
Taste reflects the bouquet with some spicy notes.
Wonderful cask conditioned feel.
Luvly jubbly.

First had on cask, at the White Cross in Richmond, October 2016. I could drink a gallon of the stuff. Paired with sausage and mustard crisps for extra points.
