Served out of a one pint+ bottle, this pours a muddy, deep brown with hues of orange throughout. Ivory head is quick to leave, and only spotty patches of lace remain. Aroma has toffee, molasses, and dark fruits. Bouquet is reminiscent of a doppelbock. Mouthfeel is malty, with good carbonation. Taste has a pleasant, malty dominance with plum and fig flavors. The malt is somewhat balanced with classic English hops and a hint of spicy bitterness. Finishes with a spicy maltiness, port wine undertones, and a spicy bitterness. An interesting variation of a fine British winter seasonal ale, that is a warming sipper on a snowy, February evening.

Pretty amber beer, low wispy head.
Aroma of toffee covered figs and wet hay hops.
Flavor is remarkably rich with balanced fruit esters and caramel sweetness and an earthy hop bite of grass and leather.
Finish is soft and malty with a hint of hop bite.
A great ale ( or was) in season and if you can find it, particularly good on tap.

Cask. Clear dark amber with a thin bubbly head.
Rich aroma of roasted malt, autumnal fruit and toffee.
Taste reflects the bouquet with some spicy notes.
Wonderful cask conditioned feel.
Luvly jubbly.

First had on cask, at the White Cross in Richmond, October 2016. I could drink a gallon of the stuff. Paired with sausage and mustard crisps for extra points.
