A wonderful place to sit awhile and consume massive quantities of freshly made beer. The lower level is the place to be-its like drinking in a medievil cavern. The beer was as good as any I enjoyed in other German cities such as Wiesbaden and Heidelburg. The waitresses were really cute and I loved to watch them deliver massive steins of draft beer to the eager patrons. Both the lager and the dunkel were quite tasty and brewed in the cellar. Great atmosphere! I sure wish I could go to a place like that in Atlanta.

Visited in January 2011 for a quick spot of food and a couple of beers on the way to the airport
2 beers avaialble, Helles and Dunkels
Both reasonable efforts, but nothing to write home about - if a stop off here is convenient make it, if not don't go out of your way!
multi level bar, typical new age brahaus format, we were in the smaller cellar style area
food was good, I had the 'knippe' a local delicacy which is simialr to haggis in some respects
the jumbo curry wurst was huge !
Atmosphere was ok - Sunday lunchtime so not that busy, I imagine it would be different of an evening!

I planned on going to this place while in Bremen, but happened to find it when I wasn't looking for it. They only have two beers, but both are great!
The inside looked very old, but its not since it was opened in 1990.
The waiter inside was very nice. I even took home a 2L bottle of their Dunkel. They have a Hell beer that is very nice as well. Everything here will be on tap.
The food was very good, and nicely priced. My girlfriend dosen't drink beer but likes wine and she said the white wine there was very nice as well.
This is a GREAT place to stop at if your in Bremen. I do recommend you get a 2L bottle of beer to take with you!

I really liked the Schüttinger Brauerei in Bremen, Germany. I drank there nearly every day during my week-long stay in Bremen in July 2005. It became my "beer-drinking base camp" during my exploration of the city. This brewpub lists itself as Bremen's "First Guest House Brewery" and was established in 1990. It is located in the Böettcher Strasse district of the city not far from the town square. The atmosphere is lovely and dark with lots of wood and metal decor. My favorite place to hangout was the lower level with its heavy wooden tables with bench seats, it gives the feel of a medieval tavern. The food is of moderate variety and quality. However, if you talk nice to the waitresses they might bring you something from the neighboring Friesenhof restaurant that must have an agreement with the brewpub. What kept me coming back were the friendly wait staff and the patrons of the brewpub. During the slower hours the waitresses were very talkative and informative. I spent hours talking in mixed German and English to them about all manner of topics and enjoying the beer. My favorite beer of the selection they brew onsite was the Schüttinger Dunkle. It had a very fresh taste and was a light and refreshing dark beer.
