Poured from a 330ml bottle into a pint glass. Pours a golden hay color with a 2 finger sudsy head. Had this beer while traveling through Belgium as a bartender recommendation for something different from the lambics, gueze, and Trappist style beers. Fairly well balanced but smell and taste were fairly 1 dimensional.

First sampled from a 0.33l bottle (€4.40) at cafe Gollem in Antwerp on 30SEP15. Best by date on the label said 29JAN17.

It was alight/medium golden, with plentiful, aggressive carbo swirling about. A 3/4" off-white, whipped cream head topped things off, and it all just sat there! Had excellent lace, too. Had a yeasty nose with hints of peach. Was medium in the body department, with a touch of prickle. Still quite smooth, though.

Tasted of crackery, bready malt with some apple, pear, peach and honey. Some spiciness was also in the mix, with peppery, yeasty action finishing things up. Enjoyed this one quite a bit. Zum Wohl!!

“a pinkish peach with notes of spicy orange and lemon peel. The beer literally boasts a bright yellow colour and a rich honey texture, it is somewhat oily too but with incredible body and a bitter sour note in the warm aftertaste. In short this blonde tasting beer that contains 10% alcohol by volume will delight beer enthusiasts the world over”.

L: Pours straw gold under a 1” sudsy white foam cap that quickly recedes.
S: Fruity, floral aromas with traces of over ripe fruit.
T: This is a yeast driven beer with big stone fruit flavors and spice over a backdrop of malty caramel with the caramel, spice and stone fruit mingling as the beer moves through the mouth.
F: Creamy semi-sweet, medium high carbonation and medium full body.
O: An incredibly refined, satisfying and well made beer.

330 ml. bottle. Pours a pale hazy colour, with a giant head. Ring and lace seems to remain forever. Smell is complex, barnyard, ginger, orange, but there are some other fruits and spices that i really can't tell what they are. Maybe clove and coriander. It feels strong on the palate, lively carbonation, creamy. Taste is similar to smell, without the barnyard: ginger, apricots, fruits spices... A great one

A: Hazy golden straw color with a thick pale yellow rocky head that dissipates slowly, leaving massive lacing.

S: White wine vinous qualities, with a funky sour twang and straw-like essences.

T: Nice and dry. Slight golden apple, with much more caramel and dark fruit (plum?) than I would expect of a beer this color. Pale malt flavor on the back end. Also, a tad bit of hot fusels evident in the taste. Tasty, but unidirectional.

F: Champagne-like effervescence. Smooth and fairly light bodied.

Overall: Good, but not great. More of a daily drink than a special appearance (though at 10%, doubt I could justify having this daily!)

This is a tasty leather brown colored beer with an attractive creamy head sitting on top. It smells like dates and phenol, and the flavor offers a sweet flavor mixed with raisins, phenol, and spicy yeast. It is a full bodied beer with a creamy texture, and not far behind the more popular Rochefort 10.

Very carbonated pour with plenty of spewing, white foam; body is a pale yellow with flecks of yeast floating lazily about. Wheat-y, grassy aroma; pear. Wheat and light grained bread flavors tinged with a mild, ripened fruit note; fairly bitter; some alcohol warmth. Medium bodied; dry finish.

An interesting yet rather dulling beer. By that, I mean that the mild astringency, bitterness, and over-bearing dryness makes this rather flat and one-dimensional. Drinkable? Sure. Big booze buzz? Check. Memorable and wanting you to drink more? Not quite. Fair enough for what it is, but nothing to get really excited about.

Pours a hazy, honey color with a solid finger’s worth of white froth. Aroma smells of moscato, honey, bread, and perhaps a hint of tartness. Good staying power affords a persistent cap.

The taste features a big, rich kick of honeyed malt up front, along with some golden delicious apple, plum, and candy sugar (this beer certainly wastes no time getting down to business in the flavor department). Warming alcohol suggests a meade-like finish in context, though it’s augmented by a musty earthiness that’s hard to describe. The alcohol itself, while present, is deftly integrated and belies its ABV. Some pepper begins to emerge as well with sufficient warming. Zesty yeast and perky carbonation lend a luscious, vital mouthfeel that counterbalances the rich, sweet taste. Despite the big flavors and lively mouthfeel, the net result manages to remain balanced.

Overall, this is a big, bold, and balanced brew that gets the job done. I actually preferred it a little on the cooler side, as some of the flavors start to tip the balance as it warms, although that really is nit-picking. I'd be hard-pressed to declare any significant faults.

Purchased at the LCBO for $2.45 330ml bottle. Served at 5deg C in a tulip

A- Opened with a huge pop and poured a massive head. Be careful pouring. Cloudy and light golden color

S- Pretty good. Hints of citrus and banana. Foral scent

T- Young. Very young. Needs years to mellow

M- Dry which is good for a high alcohol beer. This one should mellow out within a year or two.

O- Pretty good. Have a couple to try in a few years. Triple

Food Pairing

This very young beer goes well with... Pad Thai nice and spicy. This beer cuts through the spice pretty good

Poured from bottle to rocks glass type thing from my hotel.

Nice tight bubbled foamy 2 fingers of head that leave a persistent lacing through the drink. Aroma is very hefeweizen-like IMO. Banana and clove come through in the yeast. Peppery tones and Belgian phenolics are also present. Taste is a bit flat. Not a lot of nuance, but I'm not mad at it either. It's crisp and somehow refreshing for a 10% brew. Quite dry as far as mouthfeel, very tripel-like. Overall a decent example and I'm glad this is readily available here in Spain.

This delicious, savory tripel is just my style. Simply put, it's candy esters are well balanced, the tone, the mouthfeel, is delicate (like apricots?) and comes to be exactly what I expect when I open a Belgian Tripel.

The smell alone is delicately complex (again, delicate, is used intentionally) with candied, brandied apricots as the principle smell component. The smell of freeze-dried apricots is detected, and the alcohol is not far away either. This interesting, excellent contribution to the category boasts 10% ABV.

The taste is smooth, satisfying, and beyond reproach.

Drank from my Ciney sniffer

A - Pours a pale cloudy honeycomb colour with a nice frothy white head that retains to a one fingered head throughout. Nice

S - Typical Belgian spices , lemon zest and a backbone of malt.

T - Nice spicy notes with a zesty touch. The finish is long and lingering, The malt is nicely balanced with spice and booze.

M - Perfect body and carbonation

O - Some aspect of this beer you will find very hard to beat. Its been a while since I've tried this but its a great beer and recommended. There is not much more that you could want from a beer in this style.

Murky orange with a big white head. Notes of pears, chardonnay, clove, and bananas. Very classic european hop gives a nice earthy and grassy counterbalance in the finish. Nice carbonation. Not the most complex beer but certainly a decent BSPA. I might try this again in the future.

Pours light clear gold, quarter inch of sudsy white head.

Smells of lemon, white grapes, and orange blossom honey.

Tastes of sweet lemon, coriander, white grapes, and grassy malts.

Full body with tingly carbonation on the roof of the mouth.

A very good Belgian ale, but not fantastic. Worth trying but I'd ultimately rather have a Piraat or DT.

My 5.00 rating is because this "beer" is the closest you can get to 'Champagne" without buying Champagne.
The yeast is a similar to champagne yeast, which is what gives this beer the mouth feel, carbonation, and color of a ""champagne", and more appealing than a Freixenet Brut.
The ABV is lower than Freixenet, but one bottle of this will not give you the headache of the average Freixenet.
This IS a BEER. So, don't expect a "champagne". But, it is bottle conditioned, and a splendid brew.
If only there were more like this one.

On tap at Bressi Ranch Pizza Port. This beer is a wonderfully smooth beer for it's alcohol content. The beer's taste is so smooth that I wouldnt' guess it is more than about 8% alc.

It's appearance is true to form - golden clear.
Good amount of carbonation from the tap.
Mouthfeel is smooth with a good amount of carbonation
Taste is of some sweetness - citrusy flavor with a little bit of sweetness.
A really smooth drinking beer - especially considering it's high alc content.

This beer looks awesome when poured! golden in color, big rich head. The beer has an interesting aroma possibly orange zest. The taste is good, fruity and dry. The carbonation is maxed out on this. I am not really into highly carbonated brews and this beer is really carbonated. All in all the beer is a good Belgium strong pale ale.

Bottom Line: Good brew with too much carbonation.

This was two years out of date, but it was still one of the most carbonated beers I’ve ever sampled. It poured a thick, white, spongy, overflowing, white head and a hazy, light, yellow golden color, with numerous, tight, tiny, bubble streams, but with minimal lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, bready, sugary malt, with some grain husk across the sniff. Taste is of the same, and there is a strong yeasty, banana zing, with a fairly noticeable bitterness at the back end. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy and mushy, and Malheur 10° finishes mostly dry, rich, alcohilic, fruit cake-ish, and sip-able. Overall, this is just wonderful!

From tap to Malheur stemware.

A: Orange-apricot in color, small wispy head quickly dissipates quickly.

S: Clove-laced fruity esters, honey-infused bready backdrop. Lemon-pepper spice livens-up the aromas along with a light hoppy snap.

T: Estery sweetness up front, quickly met by a phenolic undertone and cracked peppercorn. Some orange zest ushers in a slight astingent, earthy hop tone, paired with notes of booze and sweetness. None of the flavors contradict each otber, but ultimately the brew isnt a remarkable quaff. Finished relatively short and dry.

M: Medium-bodied, fairly effervescent, drinkable.

Kind of an earthy, subdued version of the style. Drinkable but not something Id clamor for.

A: An unrelenting foamy white head with great lacing. Bright gold body comprising strings of champagne bubbles.

S: Metallic and Pilsner like, a bit rubbery like a hefeweizen. Some sherbet.

T: A smooth balance of tartness and sweetness. Initially like an extra strong Duvel but less bready. As it warms its unique character comes through. I get a strong aftertaste of fresh lychees, rambutans and to a lesser extent green grapes. Has that wonderful laquer-like quality that I love in super strong Belgian ales yet the alcohol is not protruding. Not a hint of coriander, thank goodness. It is at times just an incy bit metallic but I suspect it's something to do with the bottle cap. Strangely, towards the dregs it starts to taste like an American citra based IPA, with lots of bitter grapefruit yet it doesn't appear to be bottle conditioned. Unique.

O: With its modest 3.97 BA rating (currently) I see this as very underrated and I doubt my bottle was 100% fresh either, seeing as I bought it on the grey market here in Korea.

330 ml botle, at home, poured carefully into a tulip glass as not to disturb the yeast.
Very clear yellow golden colour, with a hge head, almost four fingers tall, snow white in colour and soapy in texture. Good retention and lots of lacing left behind.
Aroma is mostly hops, but very subtle.
Nice taste, bitter and hoppy. The alcohol is there, but it doesn't disturb.
Citrus notes on the taste.
Medium thick body, average carbonation.
Overall, this beer is dangerously drinkable, with an ABV of 10% I should be just sipping it, but the taste was so good that made that very difficult.

I am reviewing a beer that's been stored safely since 2008, and it's January of 2014. If ever there was a champagne of beers, this is it. Fruity, zesty, a bit of banana, grape skins and honey. Reminds me of a mead I made back in 1999 (and continue to cellar to this day). Very heavily carbonated, yet with a round mouth feel, two fingers and terrific lacing. Flavors linger and slowly fade on the middle of the tongue. There are some solids in the deep golden brew, but it's mind over matter as this beer warms the belly with the obviously present, yet somehow balanced alcohol. What a treat!

Bottle from belgianbeershop.com - Malheur 10 is clear golden with a thick and stable white head. The aroma is yeasty with fruity aspects (citrus) and with a clear alcohol presence. The taste is very like the aroma. This beer has a fresh character with a bitter aftertaste. The alcohol is very present and dominates a bit too much. Overall a good beer that goes very well with meat dishes.

A - very thick foamy cloud white head. Very foamy. Murky lemon butter yellow. Cloudy with plenty of champagne continued carbonation. Some lacing but not much

S - sweet salt taffy. Pale malt extract. A bit of of lemon zest. Baked sugar cookies.

T - abv comes out but not in an off flavor way. Some sweet esters and maltiness. A good solid showing.

M - fluffy and buttery. No burn despite strong abv nose. Malty.

D - a good but not fantastic example of the style. That still better than most
