Malheur 12 bottle

Appearance: Medium brown. Some floaters from the yeast. A tall head that receded quickly into a short layer. Head is light-tan in color. Appears to have moderate-high lacing. [3.75]

Aroma: Bavarian pretzel rolls, raisin, dark toast, molasses and toffee, booze and plums [4.25]

Taste: Caramel waterfalls, pretzels, sour apples, a little soy sauce, prunes, burnt toast. [4.25]

Feel: Oh so chewy, a little high on the carbonation (initially), definitely a bit cloying (but in a nice way). Goes down way too smooth for 12% [4.25]

Overall: A great quad, especially at the price point / availability
My favorite only behind Westy 12. [4.5]

Medium carbonation. Smooth taste and finish. Alcohol taste is hidden and is a very drinkable quad. Not bitter at all with a good flavor.

Bottle label data: Best before end L20170414

Body exhibits a cloudy, copper-brown body with a very thick, fizzy head. The aroma exudes a subdued sweet and fruity scent; caramel and apricot; some citrus. The flavor mirrors much of the characteristics of the smell with a touch of bitterness and notes of alcohol; sharp tartness in the background. Medium-heavy body yet very fizzy.

Not a bad beer per se but comes across rather weak, watery and generally chaotic as far as depth and balance go. The initial pour produced mostly all foam despite using a proper pour technique although it eventually settled into decent balance of body with head. The smell was really low-key although it had a nice variety of scents. The flavor and mouthfeel both seemed rather weak all-around, especially with the overly fizzy carbonation feel. Subsequent sips reminded me more of a bitter cola than a deep, balanced, and complex beer. Fair but certainly meet my expectations for a quad.
