650ml bottle. These organic ales are coming fast and hard from Nelson of late. Just how I likes 'em.

This beer pours a crystal clear, pale bronzed amber colour, with two fingers of wanly puffy, loosely foamy off-white head, which leaves a more or less solid array of pockmarked, layered sandstone cliff lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.

It smells of semi-sweet orange and grapefruit flesh, tame caramel malt, a hint of white pepper, and further leafy, floral hops, with a twinge of perfumed booziness. The taste is more somewhat peppery citrus and floral hops, grainy pale malt, with only the slightest hint of caramel malt, and a wee twinge of mineral stoniness.

The bubbles are average in intensity, with a dull edge of persistence, the body a barely medium weight, and equally smooth, a pithy clamminess slowly clamouring until it mostly takes over. It finishes off-dry, the lingering pseudo-hoppiness not really capable of convincing me of proffering further prose on the matter.

Another in this organic series that sadly falls into the wastebucket of shoulda-coulda-woulda-been. The hops are there, sure, but incredibly dispossesive - and well, underwhelming, with a bland pale ale nature that hardly bodes less than ill for future praise. If so, inform me thusly, as I can only benefit from said exercise, though I'm hardly holding my breath on the matter.

650ml. Lot 4381 - exp 11/10/13
Organic Session IPA ... at 5.2%?

A: deep amber
S: not much; carboardy malt or stale bread crust
T: nice rich round full-flavoured; malt dominated; good line of bitterness that keeps everything together. Not big hops and not big bitterness. Wish it had a "fresher" citrus character but still very likeable. Session?
M: medium bodied; medium low carbonation
O: Maybe in the Kootenays this is session beer but it sure doesn't taste like one. It's also not a typical NW IPA (not enough citrus hops or bitterness). Enjoyable but not a session beer.

Nelson Brewing 'Hop Good Session IPA' @ 5.2% , served from a 6pack of 355 ml cans purchased for $12.30
A-pour is amber from the can to a clear dark amber in the glass with a medium size off-white head leaving a spotty lace along the pint
S-hoppy
T-crisp & clean ok tasting , surprising decent malt backbone
MF-ok/decent carbonation , medium body
Ov-ok/good beer , surprisingly good session beer

Appearance - Pours a light copper colour with two fingers of bubbly ivory head.

Smell - Piney hops, tropical fruit, pine resin, toffee-like malts.

Taste - Toffee notes, malts, and a very subtle pine flavour. Hops have a minimal presence and are quite restrained in comparison to the aroma. Hop bitterness is mostly present in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with light to moderate carbonation.

Overall - A bit of an underwhelming American IPA. With a name like "Hop Good", I would expect much more hop flavour than what this brew delivers.
