This is a good example of the Biere De Garde style and was overall, quite refreshing and enjoyable. No hint of the 8.5% at first but as it warmed, it became rather boozy. I dont mind a boozy beer but you could tell its 8.5 by the end of the beer. I would buy it again but not all the time.

Served in tulip. Poured a very pale straw-gold color with about 1/4 inch of white head that dissipated very quickly and left no lacing.

The aroma was about as expected, but very subdued. Light, soft grains, and a yeasty-spice that was interesting, but very delicate. The taste was the same, an understated version of what was expected. Low malts, some spice, some yeast and a hint of floral hops.

The body was nice, but much thinner than I would have liked. Drinkability was very good, this beer goes down very quickly and easily, and you could slip several down the throat before you realized it. Overall, a nice brew, not outstanding, but probably worth a shot, despite its $8 price tag.

Poured from a 33 cl bottle bought in France.

A - Beer is a very light straw color and perfectly clear. It could easily pass for champagne in the glass, except that the white head is more fluffy and persistent. The photo on this BA entry shows the 750 ml bottle was bottle-conditioned, but this smaller bottle was apparently filtered.

S - The aromas are at a low level, but I detect crisp pilsner-type graininess and low levels of grassy hops. The aromas are fresh and clean, but don't pop out.

T - Flavors are balanced between light malt reminiscent of white flour biscuits, and grassy, noble hops. The emphasis leans slightly to the malt. There is some complexity added by a bubblegum yeast note, but the taste is fairly simple. Perfectly clean and well-made; nothing out of place.

M - Light body. Smooth but full carbonation. Hops bitterness is at a low to medium level. Alcohol is noticeable, but not over-the-top.

O - This is a pleasing, surprisingly drinkable beer for such alcohol strength. It is perfectly executed with no flaws. I only wish it had a bit more complexity.

(Served in a tulip)
A- This beer pours a crystal clear golden yellow body with a super thick snow white head and a gentle carbonation. The head forms a good sticky lace with each sip.

S- The cream and yeast aroma has some soft floral hop notes to it but is a bit clean otherwise.

T- The mellow yeast flavor has some nice pear esters and a soft sweetness in the finish. There is a green bitter note that lingers for just a bit.

M- The medium mouthfeel has a creamy texture but no real alcohol heat is noticed.

O- This beer is very sessionable with a good balance of sweetness, esters and some bitterness.

oured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a light golden amber with a massive white head with good retention and pillowy lacing. Aroma of light fruit, wheat, lemon, Belgian yeast and spicing. Flavor is sweet pear and apple juice, wheat, bready malt, lightly astringent wood, light lemon. Finishes with sweet/sour light fruit and a mild hops. Flavor a bit attenuated, but pleasant. Light to medium bodied with a nice mouth feel from constant carbonation. Not a super complex BSPA, but a nicely made and pleasant drinking one.
