12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a beautiful transparent golden orange with a huge fluffy eggshell white head that sticks around and leaves great retention and very nice lacing. This is truly a great looking beer. The aromas are nice. Lots of ripe fruit. There's subtle hints of orange and lime. Some garlic and onion notes. Some rubber. The flavors really match. Some caramel malts in the mix blend well with the Amarillo hops. More lime with hints of lemon zest in the finish. Some fresh grass. This is pretty earthy. There's an extremely subtle warmth in the finish, but it's not boozy at all or anything. It's actually dangerously drinkable. Mouthfeel is full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's very smooth and easy drinking.

This is a very solid DIPA. They do a good job of showcasing Amarillo hops. It's fun to drink, I like it. It's somewhat unique, so for that it gets extra credit.

Crystal clear copper orange body with a full bubbled light off white khaki head, forms fine speckled lacing down my chalice. Aromatics start off with mango/pineapple and quickly turn toward a tart citric, crushed aspirin, cat pee ammonia sharpness that is unique to those Amarillo hops. When blended with other hops, this one tends to perform better however this is a single hopped 10% DIPA from Flying Dog. The flavor hits with a nice upfront malt profile, biscuit/honey tones quickly wiped away by bitter hops and waves of hop flavors including some quite unpleasant astringent character like onion/herbal vegetable, again cat pee, just pretty much a booze ridden finish equates to a really bad experience in this glass. I can't picture finish the rest of my six pack there are only four bottles left but it's going to feel like a marathon.

Appearance is bright, sun yellow with orange hues and pours thin.

Definitely notice the amarillo hops giving this a nice waft. Also smells of pepper, spices, and slight fruit notes.

Taste has some 'heat,' if you want to call it that, most likely coming from the hints of pepper and other spices I got in the nose. Very bitter, but not overwhelmingly, an overall palate pleaser.

Mouthfeel is not really my cup of joe. A bit too peppery bitterness for me.

Overall this is a decent IIPA, but would not go out of my way to find again.

A - Pours a pale orange with remarkable clarity (probably filtered) and a sudsy white head. Good lacing. Quite a nice looking beer.

S - smell is musty, yet bright. There's some tropical fruit and peach, but overall the nose is a bit murky and indistinct.

T - like the nose, the flavor of this beer starts out bright and fruity, but indistinct. There's a honey sweet center and copper penny bitterness running through it. Decent at first, but it gets much better as the beer warms and its flavors distinguish themselves. There's peach, grapefruit and just a little pine. Juicy, just as you would expect from Amarillo. Not as dry and boozy as other single hop IIPAs I've had from Flying Dog.

M - fizzy, medium bodied mouthfeel. Finishes really dry in a way that helps the hops shine.

Overall, this is a must-try for fans of Amarillo hops. Reminiscent of DirtWolf with its light, dry body with a lot of soft, juicy peach. It's plenty bitter though -- this one's for hop heads only.

12 oz. bottle poured into a Burley Oak snifter (220A14)

A: Crystal clear copper body with decent lacing but with a minimal head that dissipates quickly.

S: This is one clearly fruity DIPA. Lots of straightforward citrus flavors including oranges, tangerines and a bit of the tartness of grapefruit.

T: Its been a while since I've had one from their Single Hop series. Decently balanced with a bit of resin on the backend. Sweet malts with lots of citrus from the hops. You taste this one forever, the taste really lingers since your is just completely coated like you are sucking on a hop candy (but not as sweet).

M: Very prickly/rough/coarse with lots of forceful carbonation initially that slowly mellows out as it goes to the back of your throat. That all disappears as it warms leaving it with a nice foamy feel.

O: Another great entry in the Single Hop series. This is just a really tasty DIPA and makes me want to really try some other single hop beers, like Mikkeller's but those are super old now. I wish they would stop repeating, especially the El Dorado. I would love to see the Chinook, Nelson Sauvin, Simcoe, Sorachi Ace and Centennial from before. I swear I couldn't find the Sorachi Ace or Simcoe at all last year, like they didn't release it but they were supposed to.

- Consumed in a Speigelau ipa glass.

A: Big frothy milky white head of one inch proves to have a lasting visual effect leaving thick, clumps of lace behind. Quick release of macro-effervesce mixes with a soft release of micro-bubbles of light to medium density.

S: Lemony-grassiness that finishes out with a lightly dry citric-graininess. Quickly depleting aromatic strength is its one drawback, light in delivery with some dried barley-grassiness on the end.

T: Flavor was spicy and citric, lemony grassiness with some fresh orange peel. Dry toasted sweetness, barley, with warming grassy hops compliments of the 10%abv which was very well mannered. Spicy citrus toast, clean flavor, sharp spiciness with a sweet toasted, dry hop finish. Nice level of intensity from the hops.

M: Thick malty substance, grassy-alcohol notes of warmth, light to medium rate of carbonation with a spicy, dry citric finish off the tongue.

O: Overall really nice single hop representation, just the right amount of alcohol that is easily manageable and shows the vast complexity and range of the amarillo hop. Solid 4.0 flavor and drinkability factor and definitely one of the better amarillo single hop varieties that i have had. Highly drinkable.
