12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. A new beer to me from Flying Dog, my first of their Single Hop IPA series of beers.

Poured into a clear balloon snifter.

A - Pours a bright juicy citrusy orange colored body with about two fingers of frothy khaki head. Lots of sticky scattered lacing. Looks very nice.

S - The smell is very nice also. Bright floral / citrus hops. Piney and skunky. Bready honeyed malt to keep things balanced. There is some pungent yeasty sort of aroma distinct in there also.

T - Taste follows the nose - very bitter grapefruit, pine, bready honeyed malt. Fairly simple, but nice. Fresh, juicy, tropical, and lightly floral.

M - Feel is bready bitter and dry. Medium bodied with good carbonation.

Overall, a nice DIPA from Flying Dog, definitely one of the better and more memorable beers I've had from them in a while. I look forward to trying more of their Single Hop IPA's.

Flying Dog Single Hop Imperial IPA (Amarillo) ---4/5.

Best before 8/12/14.

Pours a murky honey orange with a foamy orange-tan head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, brown sugar, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest and herbal hop flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness and an alcohol kick on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is quite hoppy and boozy in the taste.

Served in a tulip glass.

Appearance: Super dark transparent gold, with heavy bubbles rising to about notch above a finger's length. Thick tillyou take a sip and settle with a slight uneven lacing

Smell: Strong piney/hops scent that might overwhelm some people. Has a scent that might come off a bit spoiled. I know what this smell is, it's like when you visit a brewery and that hard yeast and hops scent sitting next to the barrels.

Taste: Not as complex as I like them but does the job, straight hops and straight bitterness that will raise your eyebrow on it's palate tangy feel. A little sour note it, feels like a bit of lemon was added.

Mouth: Medium bodied carbonation with an ultra grapefruit citrus skin feel.

Overall: Not a bad brew but Flying Dog has made better, when you have had Double Dog and then you have this it feels like you're downgrading and literally paying more. Obviously an experiment gone wrong or up depending on what you feel.
