Very pale with some haze. A short collar holds a long while. A trusty ale, in appearance. Lacing looks good, too.

Picking up different angles of Old Bay every time I dip my nose in. Celery salt, paprika, light barley/wheat malt, pepper, salt, and faint citrusy lemon (hop?). Interesting!

All Old Bay, all day. Not intense, though. Still has a blonde ale summery vibe with a hint of wheat, maybe. Paprika, celery seed, lemon pepper, coriander, and a hint of citrusy hop (grapefruit?).

Easy feel. Good spicy, powdery dryness with some lingering saltiness. Doesn't mess up my enjoyment.

Reminds me of a crab boil. Awesome experiment.

I had very low expectations for this beer. Old Bay is a fairly potent spice in large quantities. I have often washed the excess off blue crabs from a take-out place because they had a fiery dose of Old Bay on them. Dead Rise could have easily been a hot, gimmicky beer but it isn't. The spicing was just right, turning a fairly bland ale into something pretty good.

Pours a clear gold color with a medium size white head. Head retention is fairly good and there are rings of lacing on the glass.

Aroma and taste are good also. The aroma is quite floral....The celery salt element of Old Bay is much more prominent than the spicy part. I also thought I detected a good amount of rosemary in the aroma.

The spiciness carries over to the taste too. Te basis for the beer is a run of the mill ale. The spices make it much more interesting.

Mouthfeel features the spiciness on the tongue in an otherwise fairly light beer. I had this with snow crab legs and it was a perfect accompanyment. A good beer with sea food.

A: Slightly hazy, bright yellow golden. 1 + finger of foamy toasted light brown.

S: Grapefruit, coriander, lemon, and a lot of spices. Very mellow beechwood, vanilla, and peach scents.

M: Light, crisp, thinner bodied. Some starchy creaminess. Nice balance. Dry finish. Refreshing and drinkable. Really works with the flavor profile.

T: Citrus grapefruit and lemon. Some salt and pepper notes combine with faint grass for dry and spicy finish. Some sweet notes of buttered corn that one would expect in a lo-country boil. Really nice summertime beer.

A: Pours a translucent, orangish yellow, very thin white head that dissolves quickly.

S: Spicy and grapefruity.

T: Sour grapefruit, bitter and old socky, turns nasty.

M: Watery and fizzy.

O: Yeah, it's not good. Sour, in a bad way. I could finish, but only just.
