Bright tawny amber with an impressive head retention, stellar stickage and the foam takes forever to subside. Hell the lace holds to the glass almost all the way down!

Aromatic mix of citrusy hop and buttery diacetyl. More hop in the nose though and fresh at that, this is obvious dry-hopping if you have never had a dry hopped beer before.

Moderate body with a well structured mouth feel. Mouthful of cascade hops, not all bitterness just a heavy hand of citrusy flavour. Bitterness is there and quite ample. Maltiness is underneath with a base of sweet grain that more or less gets clouded out by the fresh hop flavour. Puckering dry finish.

This is perhaps my favourite of the Flying Dog brand and definitely a beer I will be trying to have in the fridge for a nice hop fix here and there.

3.4/5  rDev -6.6%
look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 4

Presentation: 12oz brown bottle. No freshess date.

Appearance: Pours an impressive orangey/dark amber beer and a very decent creamy foam head with incredible stick and stay. The beer is truck with chill haze though.

Smell: Malty, floral hops and a touch of citrus fruitiness.

Taste: Taste and feel are even, but a bit thin, not in a bad way mind you, but it's still thin. Mega-dextriny (from the Carastan malts?) with a nice hop presence that pulls you gently into its soft Cascade hopland. You can tell that this beer has been dry-hopped. Hops go raw and coarse, citrus salty rind-like. Earthy, woody notes. Thin fruity/grape flavour, followed by a bready malt character that runs into the finish, along with more dextrins.

Notes: I think the name and label has made this beer something more than it is ... it's not the best Pale Ale in the world, just above average IMO, but it certainly does the trick.

Doggie Style Classic Pale Ale from Flying Dog Brewery, yet another first. Poured from the bottle into a glass, this brew's got a 1.5 finger thick that caps off a clear, amberish yellow body complimented by droopy lacing

I'm getting aromas of straight up HOPS!

Tastes like hops, quite certainly. I'm also getting a minute bit of, dare I say, malt sweetness. If it weren't for that balancing factor, this brew may have been above my IBU tolerance. Its refreshing all in all.

Mouthfeel is clean and smooth. Not very much lingering elements such as hop oil.

Overall a 3.5 for Doggie Style Classic Pale Ale from Flying Dog Brewery. It was more tame than I thought it was going to be, which is fine by me. I'm slowly, just now starting to get into IPAs and APAs. I enjoyed this since it wasn't too extreme, the malt taste did its job awesomely. I'll probably get this brew again.

Poured into a New Belgium goblet. Label says 237A14.

A- Pours a medium amber color with a 1/4 inch off-white head that retains a bit before becoming a thin ring around the edge of the glass and a spackly sheet of surface foam. Non-resilient lacing slides quickly down the glass.

S- Decent blend of bready malt and mild herbal hops.

T- Bitter from front to back with the bready malt creating a good backdrop. Dry finish.

M- Slightly sharp from the hops with medium carbonation and a lightish body.

O- A nice amount of hop bitterness keeps this one drinking nicely. Nothing stands out in particular but it's good for what it is.

O-

Appearance- Golden and copper, cloudy appearance. Medium head with a little lacing.

Smell- Floral hop aroma. Grassy/pine.

Taste- Nice citrus flavor with light grapefruit and orange. Good malt flavor to balance the hop presence which is slightly more than most pale ales.

Mouthfeel- Light, drinkable, refreshing.

Overall- A light but complex beer that is great for those who are just getting into craft beers. A beer that can be enjoyed one after another.
