Poured from 12 oz. bottle:
A: Darker amber color; a little darker than most Marzen's I've had. Decent amount of head, looks quite carbonated.
S: Very mild smell; hints of caramel in the smell. Alcohol is slightly noticeable.
T: Stronger taste than the smell; I typically find Marzen's to be too tame, so this is a pleasant surprise. My favorite Marzen to date, this brew has a very smooth aftertaste with a slight taste of caramel. This beer matches the description on the bottle very well in my opinion.
M: Similar to taste, nothing special in the mouthfeel; just surprisingly smooth.
D: Very drinkable; only slight amounts of bitterness that are offset in a pleasant way by the caramel in the beer.
My favorite Flying Dog beer to date. Typically I feel like Flying Dog attempts to go for over the top bold tastes and fails, but in this case the strong and solid flavor of the Dogtoberfest was pretty good.
