Well, this is fucking stupid. Or, is this becoming the norm for craft beer these days? Just pathetic, one beer has stood out this year, the Hop Slam, best Slam I've had all these years. This beer fucking stinks, I tossed 2 into my mix a seven, yes, it's not expensive, but when did the stupid Belgian yeast become tropical? Banana? maybe? If I had to eat cereal, would add banana.
But this is fucking stupid, and, yes, I'll drink the other one, but NEVER again Beyond stupid.

From a brown twelve ounce bottle into a clear glass Imperial pint mug this liquid went. Now, it can be seen as a bright and nearly clear copper-amber. There's a little bit of an enduring white head. It has a Belgian yeast aroma, but it's not overly pungent. The taste brings out the worst part of Belgians, that sort of metallic intrusion into the taste that is very unattractive to those who haven't aquired a taste for it. There are some really good Belgiums that are complex and that aspect actually contributes to the overall. In short, this is not a good beer. It's one of the least smooth beers you will ever have, making Golden Monkey seem like a velvety treat. Overly yeasty, then overly bitter, but in a perfume-llke way, not a good hop driven way. Tropical? Maybe because that Belgian yeast taste can be reminiscent of bananas; but, there are many that don't think banana beer is such a good idea.

From the label: "FOR OPTIMAL FRESHNESS ENJOY BY: 08.19.21B"
Appearance: The body ranges from dark amber to copper in color. It has good clarity and a very large off-white head. The texture of the head is both fluffy and creamy with wisps of bubbles creating lace at the edge of the glass. Great retention.
Aroma: A slightly floral scent comes through with a note of lemon zest. There is a light hint of clove and what smells like wheat. The overall aroma is very mellow.
Taste: Up front there is clove, followed by an odd flavor which tastes a bit like agave and melon mixed together. There's a bit of rose hip flavor too.
Mouthfeel: It's smooth and easy to drink with medium carbonation. The body is on the lower edge of medium. It's a bit slick in the aftertaste.
Overall: The label states that this is a "BELGIAN-STYLE INDIA PALE ALE BREWED WITH GUAVA, PINEAPPLE AND TANGERINE." This is an interesting beer because the mixture of hop characters and fruits give it this oddly unique flavor. It doesn't really taste specifically like the advertised flavors, but it's obvious that there's something else going on in this beer. There is a noticeable Belgian yeast character so I would primarily recommend it to those who love Belgian beers but want something a little different. I could drink it again and I would recommend it overall.

Flyin dog is a straight up class act brewery. For the love of God please stop brewing this tropical bitch crap. Love Rage but this stuff tastes more like flowers and that’s a no go as far as great beer taste goes. Bloodline, Truth, snake dog all have a solid signature . Tropical Bitch needs a new name. Tropical Botch!

This is my first IPA that got me into IPAs and furthered my love of Flying Dog! Raging bitch is good but the difference is the fruit they put in! It's seasonal so grab it while you can!

"Best by 7/6/16"; drank 2/25/16 @ the Yarchives.
See-through red/orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice white head; a curtain of lace.
Melon, strawberry, banana & faint clove notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Banana, faint caramel & faint strawberry flavors up front; black pepper & dry booze heat notes on the finish.
The fruity nose was promising, but this was not overly enticing.
