A - Beautiful deep, golden amber. Creamy off white head of about 1.5 fingers, not much lacing, head dissipated quickly all but for a bit which stayed until the bitter end.
S - Malt, pine, citrus, a touch of fruit, and a bit more than a bit of alcohol.
T - I'm a hophead so I enjoy the bitter bite this IPA has. Bit sticky and cloying on the tongue though, which I'm not crazy about. Starts out briefly with a touch of sweet malt, but quickly heads for hop highway. Just a hint of apricot and a slight bit of butterscotch. At 7.1 ABV the alcohol taste is well represented, but not overwhelming.
M - Medium bodied, sticky, carbonation fuzzy more than crisp.
O - Overall I think I could drink this most anytime without complaining, but not a session at 7.1%. I've had better IPA's, but not too many complaints about this one.

Good looking beer pours clear and gold with a huge frothy three finger high head. The retention is excellent. The head is a bit sticky and leaves minimal foam on the glass.
Husky and grainy, sweet bread with a bit of syrup sweetness. Fruity esters of red berry and plum. Hops are rather light, a bit of pine, citrus and medicinal herbs.
Raw and husky grain with white bread and caramel sweetness, some cream and buttery muddling in there. Hops are also light pine and red berries and under ripe citrus. Finishes with yeast and watery grains, a bit of medicinal herbs and citrus.
Medium bodied with average carbonation. Easy drinking but watery in flavor, raw grainy to finish, Alcohol is muted.
Not the greatest IPA, malts need to be tightened up and the hops are equivalent to a pale ale at best. Still not overly off putting just...lacking.

I first had Flying Dog out in Colorado.Liked it then.Like it now....I quit drinkin' it for awhile...Started back into it a couple years ago about the time that i was still drinking Guinness almost exclusively...flying dog got me back in the beer world again and not remaining stagnant with my tastes...but now that the beer culture has exploded,i see they are not the best (still one of the best, though) & i will remain loyal because they are consistent & this beer in particular is one main reason for this...i also dig their innovation/artwork and good deeds w/beer like the "pearl necklace"A Great beer for a great charity...Of course,Ralph Steadman & the Hunter S.Thompson connection will always be a BIG gonzo factor here as well...cheers!
Appearance: clear orange/golden /off white head that dissipates a little on the quick side.
Smell: citrusy/earthy hops aroma .
Taste: Hops no doubt. Fruity taste,Grasy flavors, big citrus. Excellent.
Mouthfeel: Medium to light . Carbonation high though.
Drinkability: One of the best I've had in this style. Original taste/drinkability is Flying dog!
I still do think this is one of the better IPA's out there.
