Poured into an Imperial pint glass.
A - Pours an off-white, medium sized head. The beer is a light shade of amber, a slight haze to it. Left a little bit of lacing.
S - A blend of lemon and piney hops. A touch of some spicy/powdery yeast. Some very mild crystal malts.
T - The malt stikes a little bit of balance to the herbal and piney hop flavors. Has quite a bit of bitterness hitting halfway through the taste. Finishes pretty dry with a lingering hop bitterness.
M - Medium-light body, medium-light carbonation. Good dryness.
O - Pros: Has a good deep color to it. Bright lemony hop smell was pleasurable. Light malt smell was nice. Good flavor balance. Dry.
Cons: Slight haziness. Saison-esque yeast smell was out of place to be classified as an American IPA.

Good looking beer pours clear and gold with a huge frothy three finger high head. The retention is excellent. The head is a bit sticky and leaves minimal foam on the glass.
Husky and grainy, sweet bread with a bit of syrup sweetness. Fruity esters of red berry and plum. Hops are rather light, a bit of pine, citrus and medicinal herbs.
Raw and husky grain with white bread and caramel sweetness, some cream and buttery muddling in there. Hops are also light pine and red berries and under ripe citrus. Finishes with yeast and watery grains, a bit of medicinal herbs and citrus.
Medium bodied with average carbonation. Easy drinking but watery in flavor, raw grainy to finish, Alcohol is muted.
Not the greatest IPA, malts need to be tightened up and the hops are equivalent to a pale ale at best. Still not overly off putting just...lacking.

I first had Flying Dog out in Colorado.Liked it then.Like it now....I quit drinkin' it for awhile...Started back into it a couple years ago about the time that i was still drinking Guinness almost exclusively...flying dog got me back in the beer world again and not remaining stagnant with my tastes...but now that the beer culture has exploded,i see they are not the best (still one of the best, though) & i will remain loyal because they are consistent & this beer in particular is one main reason for this...i also dig their innovation/artwork and good deeds w/beer like the "pearl necklace"A Great beer for a great charity...Of course,Ralph Steadman & the Hunter S.Thompson connection will always be a BIG gonzo factor here as well...cheers!
Appearance: clear orange/golden /off white head that dissipates a little on the quick side.
Smell: citrusy/earthy hops aroma .
Taste: Hops no doubt. Fruity taste,Grasy flavors, big citrus. Excellent.
Mouthfeel: Medium to light . Carbonation high though.
Drinkability: One of the best I've had in this style. Original taste/drinkability is Flying dog!
I still do think this is one of the better IPA's out there.
