Had this on tap at Blind Pig in Champaign. Served in a pint glass.

A: Pours a dark amber with a very thin white head. Leaves a nice ring around the glass and some splotchy lace on the way down.

S: Fruity berries with a subtle malt back and a little pine. Wasn't very pungent and I really had to search for it.

T: Very malty with some random fruity notes popping up here and there. Finish is a bitter.

M: Medium bodied with a nice carbonation and bitter hops splashed around the palate.

O: A little too malty and bitter for me. The flavors were there, but not strong enough to really hold it down.

Off white head over an amber colored body. Decent clarity, so-so head retention and lacing. Smells like a blend of English yeast and American hops. Hops have a nice piney and citrus quality. What I assume is English yeast smells and tastes floral and fruity. Yeast left a mild sweetness which fits in well with the rest of the flavor. Bitterness is solid and suiting. Not lingering nor scorching. Medium body, with a resinous mouthfeel from hop content. I could go for some more flavoring hops, but this is very good beer. Also the respectable ABV is well hidden. Definitely my favorite Flying Dog brew I've had.

12oz bottle poured into a Dogfish Head Signature glass.

A - Pours a sunburst orange with two fingers of light tan-colored head. Retention is great as it lasts for ages afterward. The lacing is nice as well with shimmering curtains of foam streaming down the glass.

S - The aroma has a bit of caramel malt backbone but for the most part it is all hops. Fresh pine and juicy citrus grapefruit flood the nose.

T - The taste has more malt than the nose exhibited, but it gives the beer a nice support. It has a lingering caramel flavor that lasts well into the finish. The hops come in shortly after the initial wave of flavor, and they are quite bitter. In fact, the bitterness tends to shroud the pine and citrus, which are somewhat muted as a result. Long, bitter finish with malty overtones.

M - Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with good carbonation. The hops are somewhat sticky and leave a distinct impression on the palate.

D/O - Drinkability is moderate. While the appearance and nose were highly enjoyable, the bitterness of the hops were a bit much for the taste. While still possible to get the hop flavor, the bitterness really took it down a notch.
