12oz bottle served in a pint glass
Pours a bright copper color with an ample two finger head of fine bubbles that fall quickly to leave a thin layer on top of the liquid. The aroma is a bit subdued for an IPA as I only get some light citrus and floral character with a touch of sweet caramel. The taste too is a bit below what I'd expect. While there is a malty base of caramels and biscuit the hop presence is a bit light. There is a good deal of bitterness but it comes without much in the way of hop flavor other than some floral tones. This has a nice dose of tingly bitterness which combines nicely with a good dose of carbonation. The body of the beer itself may be a little light however. Overall its just ok or maybe even a little disappointing given my expectations for this. (791 characters)

This beer is underrated. It's smooth, fruity with some lemon, and had an enjoyable pine bite at the end. I say y'all should get some if you can find it. Cheers! (160 characters)

Meh

I love IPAs. I remember the first time I had an IPA. I didn't even know what IPA stood for or what it meant. But I did notice that distinct aroma and the bitter taste that I couldn't get enough of. Yeah.

This is an IPA. The smell is ok although that may be too strong of a word. But the feel and taste are just shallow and totally lacking in smoothness. It's got the IPA taste, but that's it. The liquid is so thin. With so many other options available, I won't be getting this anymore. (501 characters)

On tap at Fast Eddie’s pool hall during date night poured into shaker pint. The appearance suffers due to the pour - no head and super cold. The beer itself is a clear copper and there’s some sticky lacing left after each sip. The aroma consists of citrus and floral hops over top of caramel malt. Citrus juice and biscuit sweetness taste up front with floral and citrus peel bitterness in the middle which mixes with caramel malt in the finish. Medium-light body, a touch thick/resinous, a notch below moderate carbonation, semi-dry finish. (545 characters)

Had two of these beers after a few hours of shoveling and chopping wood so i was real thirsty. I prefer IPA's in the winter after working outside for a few hours. Not a fan of IPA's in the summer.
I'd buy this again if I find it on tap and I'm real thirsty. (260 characters)

L: As far as color, it's a definite pale amber with a 9 on the SRM chart IMO. Not very cloudy. Head started off at about off white to ivory on color and about half an inch of thickish foam. It did not last long though. I didn't notice much lacing at all in the beginning or later.

S: Fruity aroma with definite orange notes. The orange definitely is the strongest notes as far as the fruity scent. Floral notes no doubt, light but definitely there, I would say like the floral aroma in a grassy wild field on a summer day as opposed to something indoors like the cooler in the shop when you're buying flowers for your girlfriend. No sulfery aroma - a tiny tiny bit at the way end of the after taste maybe, but that's it. Not much caramel or toastiness, but I didn't really find that to be a problem.

T: Definite hop bitterness which was surprising a little because there was no burnt or bitterish type aroma. Definitely grassy flavor with orange notes and a mild floral flavor just sitting in the middle of that balance, but a little too mild for me. There is a breadiness, wheat-like, no caramel and even though the bitterness of the hops is there I wouldn't say it's toasty or burnt much. Not much as far as sulfur. Fairly high ABV for an IPA but not much alcohol in the taste.

F: There is a definite medium body I'd say and some astringency to it- not too much, and decent carbonation leaning towards the low end of high. It is a stronger version with 7.1 ABV and there is definitely a warmth, not huge but there.

O: I'm not experienced enough to tell how it compares to English or American Pale Ales, but it is definitely hoppy and there is definitely the fruitiness from the yeast. It's stronger and that was definitely noticeable for me, anyway. Good beer, I'd drink it again. (1,804 characters)

(poured into a Chouffe tulip)

L: crystal-clear, brownish light orange liquid... tight, cottony, off-white foam - retention fairly long, slow fade

S: honey graham underneath (minus the cinnamon)... fragrant sweetish orange peel... mild toasted notes complimented by spicy (vaguely coriander) hop aromas... is that new shoe smell??... smell mellow overall, while the fruit notes shine brighest

T: not quite as bitter in the middle as expected - concentrated on the sides of the palate... herbal spice in the aftertaste... bitterness does build with a touch of alcohol lingering... nice balance - hops are quite fruity but matches well against the clean malt backbone

F: not much of a fizzy bite... hop oils in the foam seem to enhance the marshmallowy cushioning effect in the flow... medium-bodied, but light in weight... mildly silky smooth

O: pretty well made... clean, soft, fairly balanced... hops are bitter enough and the bitter is bright, clean, un-obscured... English-leaning subtleties... (1,001 characters)

Pours to a frothy head with a slightly cloudy body. Head remains for a while before simmering down to a lacy finish. Tropical fruits - particularly pineapple but also caramel fro the malted barley. The malted barley comes through strongly on the taste - a little too strong for me - which presents plenty of bitterness. Not much taste of alcohol considering it's over 7% and the hops are over powered by the Martinez. Lingers well in the mouth. Probably a nice beer if you like malted ales, but too bitter for me (512 characters)

A: [4.50] Gave it an aggressive pour that yielded a 2 1/2 finger head. The head is nice tight dense bubbles. The brew is a slightly hazy amber color. The head starts to break down in chunks leaving nice frilly lacing. The bottle lists the ABV (7.1%) and the best by date code translates to today! Have to drink fast!

S: [4.00] I get slight pineapple and citrus on the nose. It is not pungent - just hints of nice fragrances.

T: [3.50] The beer has a slight citrus front then moves to a bitter back end. There is a slight "buttery" flavor that is nice. The bitter is balanced out with some sweetness from the malts.

M: [3.50] Decent mouthfeel - maybe a slightly elevated carbonation level. There is a bit of a dry finish with the hops.

O: [3.75] I was hoping that the taste would follow the nose and present with stronger citrus/pineapple (these are flavors that I really like in an IPA). As the beer warmed these became more prevelant. Good overall flavor. I'd like to try one fresh. (1,003 characters)

A: Pours light amber - brown, and retains a nice head for a few minutes.

S: Hops and Alcohol, maybe a slight piney kick. Nothing is very strong, though.

T: This is a nice, easy to drink beer considering it's higher alcohol content. The hops are very present, along with a citrus, lemony element. The alcohol is there, but not very strong, and it all finishes with a bitter bite.

F: It's a lighter, we'll carbonated IPA, as it should be.

O: A good, easy to drink IPA with a nice hoppy touch and a surprising alcohol content. (529 characters)

330ml bottle, poured into a tester glass.

A: Bronze colour, clear, one finger head faded to tiny rim of film, minimal lacing.

S: More earthy thanwhat is the norm for an American IPA, the fruity notes were strawberry, also had some darkchocolate.

T: Strawberry, malts, molasses, slight dark chocolate. Well balanced, slightly boozy.

M: Slightly thick texture, coarse edge.

O: Less hoppy and fruity than other American IPAs, seemed to work though. (455 characters)

Clear pale body with a frothy white head and great lace.. A/T is sharp bitterness, pine, floral hops.. Slight sweet pale cracker malt.. Simple straight forward ipa.. Every ipa doesn't need flowers and spices and such to make them good.. This one is a great choice. (265 characters)

A: slight haze; burnt orange; 1 finger slightly off white head that receded very slowly to a very thick cap; moderate lacing;

S: a smorgasbord of hop aromas - tropical fruit, floral, earthy, pine, a little soapy;

T: more earthy that anything else; a bit of ripe tropical fruit sweetness in the background; moderate bitterness at the finish;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation;

O: very enjoyable; (403 characters)

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

Appearance - dark, coppery, not very clear. Small head that faded quicky.

Smell - Sharp smell of citrus and hops, dash of pine.

Taste - Bitter at first, with a dry aftertaste. Balanced, nothing seems particularly out of place.

Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied, well-carbonated, slightly astringent.

Overall: 3.75 - solid IPA, but nothing extraordinary. Leaves you wanting after each sip, but the taste is solid and it's a good bang for your buck. (483 characters)

Hazy oraonge colour, with a small white head that does not hold. Yet there's a good lacing. Smell of tropical fruits, citrus , floral and pine notes. Correct carbonation, medium body and dry finish. Taste of resine, tropical fruits, pine, caramel. It's OK, but not the best Brew Dog I've tried. (294 characters)

Flying Dog's best effort at an IPA. I find that FD usually trades some taste in favor of higher alcohol content. This version manages to nail the best of both. (159 characters)

Bottle marked 212A14 at 35 degrees into standard pint glass
Aroma mixed citrus and pine, not very strong
Head average (4 cm), off white, frothy, slowly diminishing to 3 mm ring and frothy layer
Lacing good – wide complete rings of small to medium bubbles
Body medium yellow, hazy
Flavor mildy bitter and piney, ends just bitter; no malt, no alcohol, no diacetyl
Palate medium, oily, lively carbonation

Appearance 4, Aroma 3, Flavor 3.25, Palate 3.25, Overall 3.375

12oz bottle, Julian dated 212A14
A 4 - hazy amber body with a tall, creamy, ivory head that holds good retention
S 3.75 - fruit, pine, caramel, toasted grain
T 3.75 - heavy dose of pine, caramel, bread, toasted grain, grapefruit rind and pith
M 4 - medium body, creamy but resinous, ample carbonation, finishes moderately bitter with lingering pine and grapefruit
O 3.75 - it's been years since I had this last, so it was nice to come back to it. I like it for what it is - a straight forward American IPA. (506 characters)

Had at Bar of Soap Asheville. Served in a pint glass.

A- Pours a medium amber color with a 3/4 inch off-white head that retains good and long before slowly making its way down to an 1/8 inch head. Sticky, sudsy lacing clings to the glass.

S- Moderate cereal grain malt sweetness with some mild hop character in the back. A bit boozy and slightly musty.

T- Solid bitterness that comes with some earthy hop taste. The flavor is a bit muddled as the hop character pulls in opposite directions and the malt sweetness has trouble meshing properly. After the palate acclimates, things become even less interesting as the conflicting tastes just turn watery.

M- Oily with a dry afterfeel. Medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the fuller side.

O- An amateurish IPA from a brewery I expect more from. (804 characters)

Overall, I found this IPA to be very refreshing. Pours dark golden, with a frothy head of about two fingers. Smell was unimpressive and the weakest characteristic of the beer. Taste was crisp and yet juicy; lots of citrus and hops. Very flavorful. Mouthfeel was good, but not as good as something like 90 minute or Sculpin. Overall, this was a very enjoyable beer paired with awesome art (the bottle was placed over the fireplace as a trophy). Will pick this up again if I run across it. (487 characters)

On tap at BWI airport
Served into a pint glass

A: copper with one fingers width of white colored head; head has decent retention and leaves lots of lacing

S: citrus rind, floral hops, faint tropical fruits

T: big bitterness with piney hops, citrus and subtle tropical fruits, malts to balance it out; nice hop profile

M/D: full bodied, appropriate carbonation, drinkability is good

O: well done IPA (407 characters)

12 oz. can poured into a Flying Dog goblet (no dating)

A: Nice copper body with nice head that recedes rapidly but leaves some lacing and a nice collar.

S: Sweet malt/pine with a great overall hop presence.

T: Light in body but with a solid malt and hop balance that is refreshing and easy-drinking.

M: Small rough bubble carbonation along the tongue.

O: This is great coming out of the can, which helps preserve the hops from the light. I'd rather buy an old IPA in a can over one in a bottle (or at least one with no date). Good enough, but they have better IPAs and beers that I would go after first. (608 characters)

Purchased in Alabama in a mix a 6pk for $9.99. Served at 4deg C in a draught glass.

A- Very good. Nice copper color and good head. Dissapates after 2mins

S- Ok but not the best. Good hops. Good corriander but not a lot

T- Very good. Nice try at an IPA.

M- Typical

O- Very good. Typical IPA. Will buy again if I can get it but best of luck getting this beer in Canada

Pours two fingers of head on a clear medium straw colored body.
The aroma is ripe grapefruit and musty lemon. Different but good.
The taste is well balanced with the bitterness taking over midway through. Lots of dry bitterness, mild malt. Enjoyable.
The texture is softer with moderate carbonation.
An IPA of a different strain but good all the same. (351 characters)

A: Darker golden color, very clear. Thick head after slightly too vigorous pout, receded to a steady quarter-inch layer with some lacing. Very nice looking beer.

S: Faint hops with a biscuity malty aroma most present

T: Citrusy hops upfront with a bitter finish. After warming the beer rounds out, with a sweeter back end.

M: Thinner mouthfeel but still coats the tongue, hop bitterness resides for a while on the palate.

O: A drinkable IPA, not as big or intense as the name and packaging suggest. Definitely worth bringing to your next poker game or barbecue. (568 characters)
