12oz bottle. sampled feb 27/2011.
pours deep dark brown, not quite black or opaque, with good clarity and coniac highlights at the edges. a thin layer of fine tan head forms, dropping quickly and leaving spotty lace.
aroma is nice. light milk and dark chocolate. faint roast. earthy and slightly herbal. bit of alcohol. whole wheat bread and a touch of biscuit. light caramel and butterscotch toffee.
taste is nice. coffee. bit of dark and milk chocolate. whole wheat bread and biscuit. bit of alcohol. caramel. hint of toffee. lightly woody and herbal.
mouthfeel is nice. medium-light body. medium carbonation level.
drinkability is nice. balanced. a bit thin and uninteresting but not a bad porter.
