Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a large wine glass.
A - pours a chocolatey black w/ a dark tan two finger head. However, when held up to light, there appear to be some amber qualities to the color as well. After the head dissipates a fairly thick collar i s left along with foam covering a healthy portion of the surface area. Good lacing.
S - big coffee and chocolate notes on the nose, maybe a bit of lactose. Definitely some malt mixed in there as well. Not much else going on here - certainly no hops to speak of.
T - a bit of malt sweetness up front with a mild pop of bitterness on the finish. I'm not sure of that bitterness is a bit of hop flavor or something else. There's also some other flavors going on in the middle, some coffee/chocolate, but I can't quite tease them all out. The flavor is not big and bold, but almost delicate.
M - definitely on the light side of medium bodied, good carbonation. It pairs well with the relatively delicate flavor.
O - this is a nice subtle porter - I drank it on a hot day, and was a bit apprehensive about that, but it went down very smooth. Good flavor, not overly complex, and the other factors all highlight the flavor.
