Classifying this beer as a Scottish Ale definitely bumped up this beer's score in my view: as I was drinking it, I was thinking, "It's good, but I don't think it's a porter...."
A bubbly beige head formed over a cola-coloured body before receding to a thin espresso-like ring. Inviting aromas of roasted barley, malt and rummy Christmas cake wafted up from my pint glass.
The taste started malty, smooth and slightly sweet. The roasted barley provided a slightly smoky and grainy finish. Thick and creamy with low carbonation. This hit the spot on a rainy, frigid spring night.
