Poured into a cylinder glass.
A: Pours a clear, straw-gold color with about two fingers of bright white head.
S: Some crisp, pale malt and perhaps some hop earthiness, but not a whole lot on the nose.
T: Again, a bit of crisp, albeit a tad harsh, graininess backed by a smidgen of hop bitterness. I also detect a chalky, medicinal, almost resin-like flavor that was quite off-putting. Hmmm...
M: Fairly light, but not too light. Plenty of carbonation and a muddy finish.
D: Goes down easy enough for those who like the taste.
This site classifies this beer as a Kölsch, and I can see the underlying idea of what Flying Dog may have been aiming at. Unfortunately, something went awry and resulted in some strange tastes, a weak nose and an inferior finish. I managed to finish the bottle, but it wasn't easy. Only marginally better than the major macro brews. I won't be buying this again.
