A thin head with poor retention. Body is golden. A mild buttery smell without any accompanying notes of hops or malts. Taste is similarly bland. There is very little hop presence. Medium bodied and creamy. A slight crispness in the mouth, but there is little aftertaste and it is fairly smooth going down.
The best thing about his beer is the label art. R. Steadman is a maniacal genius. Unfortunately, the bottles contents fall short of their noble trappings. At least this beer no longer claims to be a Kolsch. The Golden Ale label fits, as it is certainly golden in color. It is similar to a bad cream ale.
