Beer was purchased at Atlantic Liquors in Rehoboth Beach, DE
Poured and sampled from a DFH Signature Glass
A - Beer pours a totally opaque, nearly jet black color. A one finger, tan colored head on the initial pour. It fades rather quickly to a light skim. Decent amount of lacing left after drinking.
S - A distinct roasted smell with a hint of chocolate.
T - The tastes are similar to a standard porter but this beer has a good punch to it. The initial taste is that of deep roasted malts and and burnt chocolate. Maybe a bit of coffee too. It has a smooth, creamier feel to it. The longer this beer sits the more bitter or acidic is seems to become. The ABV is pretty well disguised initially but again as the beer warms, you begin to taste the alcohol a bit.
M - The beer leans towards the heavier side. It has decent carbonation.
O - I really enjoyed this beer. I've had several of Flying Dog's offerings and this ranks as one of the best. If you enjoy porters, give this a try.

Poured from a bottle into a Gulden Draak snifter.
A: Jet black. Pours a creamy tan brown head that lasts the entire glass. Lacing throughout as well.
S: Not giving off any extreme scents. Picking up the malt with a little bit of the chocolate and sweet caramel. Reminiscent of an Oyster Stout. Also picking up some fresh citrusy hops.
T: Very hop forward with a wave of initial bitterness. Mellows out to a perfect balance of maltiness and chocolate. At the end you're left with a smokey malty finish that makes you want more.
M: About as thick as a Porter can get without encroaching into Stout territory. I usually don't like the thinness of Porters but this one has enough flavor to back it up.
O: Very surprised with this beer, perfectly balanced. Will purchase many, many more times.
