Poured from a 12 oz brown bottle cellared for about 2 years. Vintage 06D.
Pours a completely black color with a nice dark head which dissipates quite fast. Some nice sticky uneven lacing in the glass.
Aroma is mainly roasted malts. Hints of coffee, slightly burnt toast. Hints of dark chocolate and some fruity smells too. Breathing in the smells deeply reveals some alcohol as well.
Even after 2 years, the taste is still very good. There is a sweetness to it at first which yields to lots of nice roasted malt flavors. Hints of coffee and chocolate in the taste as well. Taste is very much like the aroma. There is an interesting spiciness that tingles the tongue. Mouthfeel is a little oily feeling (I recall it being quite a bit more oily when it was new), with almost no carbonation left. Drinkability is a bit better compared to when its new.
Overall still very good. 2 years in the "cellar" caused its robustness to fade a little, but still very drinkable and enjoyable.

Poured from a bottle into a Gulden Draak snifter.
A: Jet black. Pours a creamy tan brown head that lasts the entire glass. Lacing throughout as well.
S: Not giving off any extreme scents. Picking up the malt with a little bit of the chocolate and sweet caramel. Reminiscent of an Oyster Stout. Also picking up some fresh citrusy hops.
T: Very hop forward with a wave of initial bitterness. Mellows out to a perfect balance of maltiness and chocolate. At the end you're left with a smokey malty finish that makes you want more.
M: About as thick as a Porter can get without encroaching into Stout territory. I usually don't like the thinness of Porters but this one has enough flavor to back it up.
O: Very surprised with this beer, perfectly balanced. Will purchase many, many more times.
