2006 release. Thanks Canucklehead
The pour puts a dense dark liquid in the glass with a thich creamy mocha colored cap which last and laces the glass.
Aroma is rich in coffee, cocoa, toast, dried fruit, bit of wet hay big millennium hop aroma mingles with the fusil sents.
Rich creamy mouthfeel, roasty-fruity chatacter..a big beer.
Big roasted malt tastes in the front blend with cocoa, coffee tastes...mid palate some cascade hop bite provides citrus which mingles with dried fruit notes and charred husk astrigency to balance the thick malts...finish is long and drying.
This is a very big porter but not a Baltic...more like a London porter on adrenochrome ( much like the good Doctor)...so rich in body and falvor it completely masks its 9%ABV...its big alcohol is only lightly detectable in the aroma as it warms...very smooth and drinkable for such a big satisfying beer.
A top flight "big" porter..world class.

Poured from a bottle into a Gulden Draak snifter.
A: Jet black. Pours a creamy tan brown head that lasts the entire glass. Lacing throughout as well.
S: Not giving off any extreme scents. Picking up the malt with a little bit of the chocolate and sweet caramel. Reminiscent of an Oyster Stout. Also picking up some fresh citrusy hops.
T: Very hop forward with a wave of initial bitterness. Mellows out to a perfect balance of maltiness and chocolate. At the end you're left with a smokey malty finish that makes you want more.
M: About as thick as a Porter can get without encroaching into Stout territory. I usually don't like the thinness of Porters but this one has enough flavor to back it up.
O: Very surprised with this beer, perfectly balanced. Will purchase many, many more times.
